| National Health Foundation Opens 62-Bed Recuperative Care Program in Los Angeles
| |
Earlier this month, the National Health Foundation (NHF) opened a new 13,000-square-foot recuperative care program with 62 beds. The new facility is housed in a century-old sanitorium that underwent a $1 million makeover. The funds for the building reconstruction came from the voter-approved Measure H, the Los Angeles County Homeless Initiative. The new facility includes semi-private rooms, family-style dining, and a community garden for residents and neighbors. Learn more about NHF’s new program.

| Reminder: Make Sure Your Medical Respite Program is Reflected in Our National Directory!
| |
| The National HCH Council updated the Medical Respite Program Directory earlier this year to include advanced search options making it possible to identify programs by bed number, staffing, facility type, and funding. However, we were unable to get in contact with a few programs that had profiles in our previous directory. If your program is not reflected in the new directory, please complete a program profile form. If you have any questions please contact Julia Dobbins. Access the online Medical Respite Program Directory.

| Washington Homeless Shelter Opens Medical Respite Pilot Program
| |
| A 3-bed medical respite program began operations this summer in Bremerton, WA. Housed in the Benedict House shelter, the program is a partnership between Catholic Community Services, CHI Franciscan Health, and Peninsula Community Health Services. Patients referred from Harrison Medical Center will spend 30 days at the medical respite program where they will receive 24-hour lodging and support. Since opening their doors three months ago, they have had eight individuals complete the program. They hope to add more medical respite beds around the county in the coming months.
