Nutt Secures Kays Foundation Grant |
The Kays Foundation has approved a $25,858 grant application from Jody Nutt, assistant professor of radiation therapy. Nutt and her department will purchase proton therapy equipment to broaden their students’ experience, practicing skills on a virtual proton therapy linear accelerator. Proton therapy has proven to be a transformative technology in cancer treatment, offering precision superior to conventional photon radiotherapy, while minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissues.

Pait and Qualls to Present Dyslexia Research |
Arianne Pait (right), assistant professor of communication disorders and director, ALLIANCE Lab for Dyslexia in Communication Disorders, will present a collaborative project with Jake Qualls, associate professor of bioinformatics, and department chair, at the International Society for Information Technology in Teacher Education in Philadelphia. Their research focuses on developing an early dyslexia screener using applied computer analytics. The project includes student collaborators: Sarah Lane, Quang Dang and Walter Blamer.

Lin Researches Sustainable Finance |
Dr. Nanying Lin, assistant professor of finance, is co-author of an article in the International Review of Economics and Finance. Lin and his colleagues examine how financial institutions influenced CO₂ emissions across G20 countries from 1994 to 2021. They analyzed the countries’ economies and compared the associated financial expansion to assess impact of financial policies. Their research findings highlight the need for green-finance strategies tailored to countries’ development conditions.

Salo Appointed to Modern War Institute |
Dr. Edward Salo, professor of history, and department chair, has been appointed a 2026 Research Fellow at the Modern War Institute (MWI) at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. MWI is a leading national security and military research center that produces scholarship and analysis on contemporary conflict, strategy and military innovation. As a non-resident research fellow, Salo will contribute to MWI’s mission of educating military and civilian leaders through research, publications and programming.

| Floyd Receives January PROPS Award |
Larry Floyd, Facilities Management, is the PROPS (Proudly Recognizing Our Pack Staff) award winner for January. Floyd was recognized for the top quality maintenance and repair work he and his team regularly and efficiently perform in support of the campus residential facilities and their occupants. Floyd is enjoying a second career, having previously served our country for 20 years in the Army. He also has completed a bachelor’s degree.
