Welcome     Grow     Serve    Celebrate

Don't Miss Out on all the Happenings This Sunday, October 26
We will gather for Worship on the Lawn at 10:45 am. Dress comfortably, bring a chair and an umbrella to aid with the sun, and join us as we enjoy being outside and giving thanks to God through worship. Thanks to Branden and Renee Henry, who will lead our music. We will not livestream this service. We are keeping an eye on the weather and will move inside if needed for worship and for our evening activities.
After worship, we need your help to prepare for our Trick or Treat Trail. Meet Jennifer in the basement to pull out tables and chairs and help set up the stations on the Trail.
Then, see you back here at 5:00 pm for the Trick or Treat Trail followed by the Chili Cook-Off at 6:00. Bring a chair, and kids bring a bucket for your candy. Youth and Bridge arrive at 4:45 to aid with the Trail.

Serving at Madison's Scarecrow Festival is one way we live into our goal of being a presence in our community. Sign up for a slot to work at the festival or to meet Pastor Dawn at 3:30 at PHUMC to load and set up at Liberty Park by clicking this link. We will have activities for kids, candy to pass out, and postcards to share about upcoming PHUMC events. Wear your PHUMC t-shirt if you have one.

Blessing of the Quilts

Pastor Dawn and the quilting ministers gathered at the end of their sewing session on Monday to bless the quilts that will be distributed by Catholic Charities and Southern Christian Services for Children and Youth.
To date, the quilters have made 1101 beautiful quilts to comfort children in distress. Quilters meet all Mondays except holidays from noon to 3:00 pm in the Garden Room.  If you would like to help in any way, get in touch with Cheryl Blacklidge, Quilting Ministry Leader.
Join us Thursday, November 6 for a day trip to Merigold, Cleveland, and Ruleville, MS.  Meet at PHUMC at 7:45 am.  We will carpool to McCarty Pottery in Merigold to look around at this famous shop then head to lunch at Airport Grocery in Cleveland.  After lunch we will stop by the Grammy Museum and on our way home, make a brief stop at the Fannie Lou Hamer Memorial Garden in Ruleville.  You will need money for lunch and $16 for the Grammy Museum if you are under 65, $12 for 65 and up. Register by Monday, November 3 either by clicking here or calling the church office.

Baby on the Way!
You may or may not know that PHUMC members, Zack and Amanda Hamilton, are responsible for keeping our building clean and our spaces looking nice and inviting. You also may or may not know that they are about to be grandparents, again! Their son, Shelby Wilson, who also aids with the custodial responsibilities at PHUMC, will soon be welcoming his first child. We know it takes a village to prepare for all the things needed to care for a newborn. If you would like to share some love and aid in welcoming this new baby into the world, click this link to find their Amazon wish list and let's shower this new baby with all the necessary things. (It's a boy!)
Current Children's Ministry Sunday School Curriculum: Big Faith. Big Faith takes children through Bible stories using hands-on activities, child-friendly themes, and includes
at-home connections. Children 4th grade and under meet in the Garden room at 9:30 am each Sunday before dividing into age-appropriate rooms for a deeper dive into the lesson.
Be sure to pick up your faith-home connection sheet in the foyer of the Worship Center, by the kid's activity bags. This enables the kids to share what they're learning in Sunday School with the whole family.
We always need volunteers to aid with our kids ministry. For more information about any of our kids ministry events contact Jennifer.

Founded in 1980, the Mississippi Coalition Against Domestic Violence (MCADV) has stood for 45 years as a strong advocate and leader in the fight to end domestic violence across our state. As Mississippi’s premier agency on domestic violence, MCADV is dedicated to advocacy, education, and raising public awareness while ensuring the availability of essential resources and technical assistance. We proudly serve victims and survivors from every racial, social, ethnic, religious, and economic background—regardless of age, gender, or lifestyle. MCADV supports domestic violence shelters statewide by providing ongoing training and technical assistance to strengthen their capacity to serve survivors. Through our work, we strive to empower individuals and families to pursue safety, healing, and justice. Learn more at mcadv.org.

Thanks to Joy Jones, Executive Director of MCADV who shared with us in worship Sunday about the work of MCADV and what your gifts are providing.
