New Open Space ID Bracelets for 2016; Blue Bracelets No Longer ValidMost trails on Ken-Caryl Ranch are private and on open space land owned and managed by the Ken-Caryl Ranch Master Association. Park Rangers are directed to contact trail users on the private trails to determine residency. If you wear an Open Space ID Bracelet, the Park Rangers will not need to stop you as long as you are obeying all of the posted rules. The blue ID Bracelets are no longer valid. To obtain a new green ID Bracelet, go to the Recreation Office at the Ranch House at 7676 South Continental Divide Road or the Community Center at 1 Club Drive. Bracelets are issued two per household and now can be temporarily transferred to house guests! You will need to sign a simple registration form and provide proof of residency. See the Open Space ID article for details.

| Input Sought for Proposed Trail Use GuidelinesHave you ever wondered what proper trail etiquette is when passing someone on the trails or whether it is appropriate to use a trail when it’s muddy? The Ken-Caryl Ranch Open Space and Parks Use Rules do not address these issues so the Ken-Caryl Ranch Open Space Committee has drafted Trail Use Guidelines to help establish proper behavior when using trails. Residents are encouraged to take a look and provide feedback before a final draft of the guidelines is presented to the Master Association Board. It’s important to point out that these guidelines are not enforceable rules but rather an educational tool to help protect open space visitors and resources. | Acrylic Painting ClassLearn how to use an array of acrylic paints, grounds, gels, pastes and other mediums in innovative ways to create lavish textures. Each participant can work from the instructor’s weekly demos as a point of departure or bring their own photos for inspiration. Instructor is Tracy Lynn Pristas. Each artist must provide his/her own art supplies.

Don't Forget: Christmas Tree Chipping Moved to Brannon Gearhart ParkThe Parks Department is accepting Christmas trees for chipping again this year, but trees need to be dropped off at Brannon Gearhart Park instead of the Equestrian Center due to construction at Dakota Lodge. Brannon Gearhart Park is located just east of Valley Parkway between Mahonia and Buckthorn (see Google Map). Simply drop off your tree in the designated area (there is a sign) anytime between now and Jan. 17. Please be sure to remove any non-coniferous items such as metallic materials and tinsel before bringing your trees, as many materials can damage the chipping equipment. The mulch will be applied at the base of trees and shrubs in parks and greenbelts.

| Sticky Fingers Cooking ClassStudents will prepare and eat healthy, globally inspired recipes all while learning to cook in a fun, engaging and real-world way! Sticky Fingers Chefs will reinforce kitchen skills, cooking terminology, and fun nutrition facts (even a few bad jokes!). Sticky Fingers provides the tools, ingredients and instruction…all we need is your student!

| Story Time & Baby Time Now on Thursdays The Friday Story Time and Baby Time at the Ranch House will move to Thursdays starting Jan. 7. Story Time will start at 9:30 a.m. and is geared toward the preschool age group, but all ages are welcome. Baby Time will start at 10:15 a.m. and is for children up to 2 years old, although older siblings are welcome to join the fun. No registration is required for either program.
