Dear Partner in Ministry,
Today is Georgetown Presbyterian Church’s 246th birthday! We have come a long way from the log cabin in George Town, but there is no doubt that the seeds planted that day by a handful of intrepid worshippers, nurtured and sustained by faithful generations to follow, created the vibrant church that GPC is today. Those that came before us not only tended to the upkeep of the physical presence of the church, but also tended to each other and to the community beyond the church walls. Most important of all, throughout the life of this church, congregations took care to prepare for the future of the church. That spirit continues as we work to launch our capital campaign Let Us Rejoice: Honoring Our Past, Building Our Future.
Many of you have already provided feedback on the components of the campaign, for which we are grateful. To keep the congregation informed, we have created a webpage for the campaign here. It includes the campaign priorities, draft architectural plans, video highlights of the organ and proposed renovation, and it will be regularly updated with additional information as it develops.
As we anticipate our church’s 250th anniversary, it is difficult not to look back with awe and gratitude for the sacrifices made for the future we now inhabit. Now it is our turn to do what we can to ensure this sacred place continues to thrive for the generations to come.
Happy Birthday, GPC!
With Gratitude and Hope,
The GPC250 Capital Campaign Steering Committee:
