SEPTEMBER 2025 NEWSLETTER |
Welcome back, friends! For those of us who make Baylor and Waco our year-round home, it’s always a welcomed joy to see campus spring back to life this time of year—to encounter students and colleagues we’ve missed, to hear tales of summer travels and discoveries and experiences, and to rekindle that sacred calling that is ours to share in this community: to discover knowledge, seek wisdom, and make discoveries that we might orient to the good of our neighbors and the glory of God. We’ve missed you! In this month’s newsletter, there’s much good to report: summer dispatches, new introductions, alumni achievements, and many great upcoming opportunities. Here’s to a wonderful new school year. And check out our record-breaking 24 Fulbright winners pictured above!
Cheers,

Flinging their Green & Gold: Camille Watson (BA '22, right) won a Fulbright and then a Pickering Fellowship and enrolled this year at Georgetown on her way to a career in the State Department. Kaitie Vana (BA '23, left) won a Critical Language Scholarship and then a Truman Scholarship, which she also used to enroll at Georgetown on her way to a career in the Air Force. Both studied Russian at Baylor, both plan to work in that region throughout their careers, and both double-fellowship winners are proud alums we call friends in the OEL. They delighted us last week when they showed up to their first day in a Georgetown class called Migrants & Displaced People in Eurasia and sent us this picture. Sic 'em, Kaitie and Camille!
