Applications Open for 2019-2020 VECD Fogarty Global Health Fellows Cohort

The Global Health Fellowship Program is a one-year NIH-funded research training program for pre- and post-doctoral trainees from Vanderbilt, Emory, Cornell and Duke Universities and partner institutions interested in working in low-resource settings. The program is sponsored by the Fogarty International Center (FIC).

VIGH Global Health Symposium

Call for Abstracts: The first annual Vanderbilt Institute for Global Health (VIGH) Global Health Symposium is currently accepting abstract submissions from undergraduate and graduate students. The symposium will be an opportunity for students who have conducted research or projects in global or public health to present their work and showcase it to the broader Vanderbilt community.
The abstract deadline is Sunday, October 14. The symposium will take place on November 6 in the Student Life Center, Board of Trust room from 5 - 8 p.m.

Peace Corps Stories
From the Field 

VIGH staff members, Ann Green, Erin Graves and Heather Jordan will reflect on their experience as returned Peace Corps volunteers at a service opportunity event on Monday, October 15 at the Student Life Center. They will be joined by Peace Corps Director, Jody Olsen. Attend to learn more about this post-graduate service opportunity.

Towards a Universal
Influenza Vaccine

The Human Vaccines Project will be hosting an upcoming symposium, Towards a Universal Influenza Vaccine: Lessons from the Great Influenza Pandemic of 1918 to Now, this November. The symposium will take place November 15 and 16 at the Kimpton Aertson Hotel in Nashville. James Crowe, M.D., Director, Vanderbilt Vaccine Center, and VIGH affiliated faculty member, is helping to organize the symposium. This event is sponsored by the Human Vaccines Project, the Sabin Vaccine Institute, the Burroughs Wellcome Fund, Sanofi Pasteur, and Vanderbilt University Medical Center. 

CALL FOR APPLICATIONS

Applications Now Open for 2019 Clinical Scientist Development Award Competition 

U.S. Physician scientists at the assistant professor level conducting clinical research in any disease area are eligible to apply for the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation 2019 Clinical Scientist Development Award Competition. The competition involves two stages. Pre-proposal applications are due November 28 at 3 p.m., ET, and about 50 applicants will then be invited to submit a full proposal. 
Join the VIGH team and support Nashville CARES at the 27th Annual Nashville AIDS Walk & 5K Run on Saturday, October 6 at Public Square Park.
