The Nashville Academy of Medicine would like to thank everyone who represented NAM as delegates at this year’s Tennessee Medical Association House of Delegates.
It was great to see such a strong showing with students, residents, and physicians from a wide range of specialties all stepping up to participate. For the fifth year in a row, NAM had the largest delegation at the House!

NAM and MFN's PROSPER program has been a proud co-sponsor of a multi-session webinar series about physician well-being. The final webinar on May 7 aims to equip physicians with the knowledge and skills to address clinician burnout at a systemic level. Participants will explore how organizational structures and culture contribute to burnout, evaluate evidence-based interventions that promote wellbeing and professional fulfillment, and develop actionable plans to implement sustainable changes within their own institutions. Additionally, participants will learn strategies to engage and gain support from administrative leadership to effectively drive these initiatives forward.

In Tennessee, physician licenses must be renewed every two years. The renewal cycle corresponds to the licensee's birth month. Renewal notices are mailed from BME’s administrative office sixty (60) days prior to the expiration of the license to the current address on record. Licensees are responsible for renewing their license on time and keeping the Board apprised of current information.
A physician needs to make sure their license is renewed well before the expiration date. Licenses can be renewed online sixty (60) days prior to expiration. Set a reminder on your phone or ask your practice manager to remind you. If you cannot remember the expiration date, you may check it on the state’s website at https://lars.tn.gov/datamart/login.do.

| Deadline Approaching for Non-Discrimination Rule Compliance | |
Federal nondiscrimination requirements under recent Section 504/Section 1557 rules are drawing near, and medical practices need to ensure compliance. These rules aim to ensure equitable access to care for patients with disabilities and other protected classes and include provisions related to website/mobile accessibility, exam equipment accessibility, and reasonable policy modifications. Organizations with 15 or more employees must comply by May 11, 2026; those with fewer than 15 have until May 10, 2027. Physicians and practice managers should review compliance obligations and connect with TMA’s legal resources for guidance.
