Nashville Academy partners with Metro Nashville Public Health Department for Zika Education
As you know, the Zika virus has been a topic of international concern in recent months. Summer travel to areas where Zika transmission is occurring will increase the likelihood of cases in Middle Tennessee.
The Metro Public Health Department (MPHD) is partnering with the Nashville Academy of Medicine to provide local physicians with pertinent information on the Zika virus and to make sure you have a communication channel for any questions or concerns that may arise.

Four Nashville Physicians Accept Awards
Congratulations to four Nashville Academy members who accepted awards at Tennessee Medical Association's MedTenn Conference at the end of April.

Upcoming Deadlines:
Professional Privilege Tax Due June 1
Every physician with an active license from the Tennessee Board of Medical Examiners (BME) or Board of Osteopathic Examination (BOE) is required to pay a professional privilege tax by June 1 of each year. Physicians will not receive a reminder from the licensing board and only those who have previously signed up for e-mail reminders will receive them from the Department of Revenue. Medicare Enrollment Deadline is July 1
All physicians and mid-level providers who prescribe drugs to Medicare patients need to enroll in Medicare by July 1, 2016.
