COVID-19 update for families: March 20, 2020

As the situation with COVID-19 continues to evolve, we know there are ongoing questions about the school closure and our plans for distance learning. We are committed to keeping you up-to-date during this time.
Distance learning
Consistent with Governor Walz's executive order, district staff will continue busily creating plans for distance learning through Friday, March 27. While some services such as free student meals and emergency childcare are already in place, schools will not provide instruction until Monday, March 30. Currently, students are scheduled to return to school on Monday, March 30. If this changes and schools remain closed, our schools will be prepared to begin distance learning at that time.
Plans for distance learning are coming together and schools will share detailed information with students and families early next week. We’ve heard families asking what they can do to keep their kids engaged in learning at home. We always have learning resources available on our website for students in prekindergarten through sixth grade. With public libraries closed, we have a Library Resources website that offers ways for students to continue using the library while at home. These resources are not part of the district's distance learning plan, which you will receive information about early next week.
Technology and learning materials
We have been collecting information about which students in pre-K through grade 12 do not currently have internet access or a device such as an iPad, desktop computer, laptop, etc. If you need internet access and/or a device, please complete this survey as soon as possible. Staff is reaching out to families who have not yet completed this survey.
Next week your school will send information about how and when families can pick up or receive paper/pencil learning materials or devices for distance learning.
Meals
We will continue to provide free meals to students during this closure. Please remember that these free meals are available to any student, regardless of their family's ability to pay. Please share this information widely with anyone you know who could benefit from receiving free meals.
Meals can be picked up curbside daily between 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at Brimhall, Central Park and Little Canada elementary schools. There are more than 20 additional locations where meals may be picked up at various times of the day. Visit the Roseville Food Map to find a site near you.
If you need food for your children and are unable to pick up at these locations or bus stops, please fill out this survey and we will help make sure you have food access. Each delivery and pick up includes two meals. We also have additional shelf-stable food provided by our partners at The Sheridan Story as well as through generous community donations.
Child care for emergency and healthcare workers
