Update to the International Training Accreditation GuidelinesĀ |
The International FeldenkraisĀ® Training Accreditation Guidelines (TAGs) are the common ground that accredited FeldenkraisĀ training programs share, and they provide a level of consistency around the world.
A review process began in 2020 and included an international working group, the four training accreditation boards (TABs), and a consultation and informational phase as set out in the Policy and Procedure to Change Internationally-Approved Training Accreditation Policies and Guidelines.Ā
https://www.feldenkraisguild.com/general/custom.asp?page=policy-to-change-accreditation-policies-and-guidelinesĀ
Proposed revisions were approved by the FGNA Board of Directors and the Governing Bodies for AusTAB and DTAB in June 2024. A slightly different version may be approved for EuroTAB.Ā
The Board has also approved the inclusion of some elements that were previously approved for NATAB and already in place (before this update of the overall TAGs), for training programs accredited by NATAB.Ā
The approved changes relate to 800-hour Feldenkrais Practitioner training programs, and do not include any changes related to āATMĀ® onlyā Teacher training programs, since that topic needs further discussion.Ā
Highlights of Key Changes:Ā
Duration
In exceptional cases, TABs may accredit training programs held over a minimum of 24 rather than 36 months.
Online teaching
Specifies maximum online teaching hours.
Hours taught by Trainer Candidates or experienced Assistant Trainers
Increases maximum hours allowed without a Trainer present, and decreases experience requirement to qualify as an āexperienced Assistant Trainerā.
Trainee ATMĀ® Teacher Authorization
Reduces required training hours from 400 to 350, along with some other conditions.
Staff compliance with policies
Requires agreement and compliance with professional policies. (Already in place for training programs accredited by NATAB.)
āMinorā vs. āSubstantialā items
Shows which items were previously defined as minor in the āPolicy to Change Policy,ā and specifies that these may be set and required by local TABs. Provides examples in appendices.
Ā
The Future of ATMĀ® Teacher Training Programs
Now that the two NATAB-accredited pilot project ATM Teacher training programs have been completed, it's time to look at whether, and if so how, to allow more ATM Teacher training programs accredited by NATAB.Ā Ā
Background information is available here: https://www.feldenkraisguild.com/page/atm-teacher-training-future, including the report of "what was learned" from the pilot projects, video recordings of interviews with Educational Directors and more.Ā
A survey was sent to all FGNA members, FGNA certified teachers, and trainees in NATAB-accredited training programs to gather their initial thoughts. After reviewing the survey results, NATAB and the FGNA Board of Directors will discuss possible next steps.Ā

FGNA recognizes the importance of domestic and global Feldenkrais® events.Ā

STRENGTH IN NUMBERS
As many of you know, Erik LaSeur, Fariya Doc, and Nancy Haller will be leaving the FGNA Board shortly, after nine years of truly dedicated service. Ā
Our FGNA Board of Directors needs to fill not only their seats on the Board, but two other open seats. We also have some additional much needed volunteer positions. Without a constellation of volunteers, individuals on the Board and committees are spread very thin. Your help and expertise is needed.Ā The FGNA Board needs your support!
The FGNA Board and the Nominating Committee needs your support for the following positions! We are seeking volunteers for:Ā
The FGNA Board of Directors:
FGNA Board of Director #4, Q3 2024 ā Q 2027
FGNA Board of Director #2, Q3 2025 ā Q 2028
FGNA Board of Director #3, Q3 2025 ā Q 2028
FGNA Board of Director #5, Q3 2025 ā Q 2028
FGNA Nominating CommitteeĀ
The Nominating Committee generally meets for an hour twice a month February-October.)
Nominating Committee seat #3, immediately ā 12/31/2025
Nominating Committee seat #2 January 1, 2025 ā 12/31/2026 which begins January 2025. The Nominating Committee generally meets for an hour twice a month February-October.
PLEASE donāt let these seats dwindle! This makes it harder for those continuing to serve, as well as for new initiations and projects to begin, which affects us all.Ā
