GW TAP recently conducted a survey to provide valuable insight into current challenges, strategies, and areas where additional support may be needed to sustain cancer control efforts.
By sharing these findings, we aim to inform and support other coalitions navigating similar circumstances and promote continued collaboration across the cancer control community.

Upcoming Session of Comp Cancer Connection: December 16 |
|
|
| GW TAP will be hosting the next session of the Comp Cancer Connection on December 16. There will not be formal presentations, but the GW TAP team will be on zoom ready to say hello, and offer a time to connect, ask questions or hear from other colleagues who join the call.
No registration is required. There will be two times offered on the same day for this call, one at 9:30am EST and one at 3:30pm EST.

All trainings provide no-cost continuing education credits for:

November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month
|

November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month, and the GW Cancer Center’s Lung Cancer Awareness Toolkit is freely available. It includes evidence-based messaging, social media graphics, and patient education materials to help coalitions and healthcare providers raise awareness in their communities and encourage early detection.

Lung Cancer Screening Initiatives Across the Nation |
|
|
| As Lung Cancer Awareness Month approaches, coalitions across the country are taking action to expand screening access, increase awareness, and strengthen early detection efforts. Highlights from recent initiatives include:
|

Alaska: Updated national screening locator tools to include remote and tribal health sites.
- Oklahoma: Hosted a legislative study, launched the Lung Cancer Roundtable website, and secured a Governor’s Proclamation for Lung Cancer Awareness Month.
- California: Launched the California Lung Cancer Story Map to increase screening statewide.

Iowa: Added screening questions to the state Quitline program and plans a provider letter to promote screening; 172 participants were notified of eligibility by Year 3.
