Employee Spotlight: Cristina Sirianni |
|
|
Employee Spotlight: Want to get to know the Ranch House team better? Check out the Employee Spotlight each week, which will feature a different employee.
Employee Spotlight: Cristina Sirianni, Director of Tennis
Cristina was born in Milan, Italy and she has one older brother who still lives there. Cristina considers her mom to be her best friend – she’s always joined Cristina on her travels through the states and cross-country moves.
At age 17, Cristina was playing at a tennis tournament in Belgium and met a player who played for Oklahoma State University. She was then recruited by the Oklahoma State coach on a full-ride scholarship. While playing there, the school was in the top 5 of NCAA Division 1 colleges. Cristina played #1 singles and doubles for three out of four years, making top 20 in singles in all of Division 1.
After college, Cristina played on the WTA tour for a couple of years. Some of the players she competed with included Venus Williams, Lisa Raymond (former world #1 in doubles), and Francesca Schiavone (2010 French Open singles title winner).
After playing on the tour, Cristina moved to Florida and received her MBA in International Management. She worked for a jewelry company for 5 years. Cristina taught tennis in Florida, helping the team at Lynn University while working at the jewelry company. During that time, she also received her Green Card, and eventually her U.S. citizenship. After getting her citizenship, Cristina realized her passion was (and still is) tennis! Since then, tennis has been her full-time career and the instrument she uses to connect with people, not only improving their tennis skills, but also their mental and physical well-being.
In 2012, Cristina dreamt of living in the mountains. She started her search and accepted the position as Director of Tennis at RVR. Through the years, RVR has become not just her career, but also her community. Cristina said, “Many residents started as clients, and are now my friends and family.”
Last winter, Cristina had the opportunity to teach clinics alongside Martina Navratilova and Chris Evert in Florida. Wow!
Cristina and her partner, Wendy, have two dogs (Sam and Baci), and one cat, named Angel. Sam has the most loveable underbite, and Baci means “kisses” in Italian. Angel is in charge of them all, humans included! Angel is working on getting her kitty passport to travel to Italy this winter with Cristina.
When Cristina is not on the tennis court, she likes to keep fit by running and road biking. When she goes to Italy, she enjoys playing paddle tennis – think a mashup of tennis, racquetball, and pickleball. Cristina also enjoys gardening at her home and walking her animals around the neighborhood. Her upcoming goal is to run a marathon in Rome in March 2024.
Have fun in Italy this winter, Cristina! We’ll see you in the spring!

Green Tip | Hazardous Waste |
|
|
Are you ready to clean house before winter gets here? Consider products that you don't need, no longer want, or are not useful. Gather up those hard to get rid of items, such as old oil and latex paints and stains, aerosol paints, oils, antifreeze, unused pesticides or poisons, fluorescent tubes, small propane tanks, and other hazardous waste products. Head to the Town of Carbondale's Household Hazardous Waste Event to properly dispose of these items. The event takes place Saturday, Oct.28 at the parking lot across from Town Hall, from 8 a.m.- 2 p.m. There is no charge for Carbondale residents.

Long Range Planning Survey |
|
|
You were recently invited to participate in a survey surrounding a proposed improvement plan to our Ranch House facility. This valuable feedback will be used to shape the final details of a proposal.
The next step in the process is for the Long-Range Planning Committee to discuss the overall plan in light of the survey results.
A big thanks for all who took the time to participate, we will continue to discuss this important community topic in public meetings.
The results are now being shared with the community and can be found at this this link.

RVR members may now bring their leaves and organic waste to the Ranch House parking lot for disposal. Look for the large dumpster towards the back of the parking lot and please be sure to dump your leaves into the dumpster and take your box or bag with you.
Last year the dumpster was out until the week of November 21. We hope to have it available as long as possible again this year. We will keep the community informed of any removal dates before they happen.
|
*This service is offered to RVR homeowners only. We ask that you please communicate this to your contractors.
