Bring your own picnic or enjoy one of the food trucks – Archie’s Dog House and the Rolling Italian! We’ll have activities for the kids and live music from two great bands: Dr. Harlan’s Amazing Bluegrass Tonic from 1-2:30 p.m. and FourEver Fab Beatles Tribute Band from 4-6 p.m.! The event is sponsored by the Scientific & Cultural Facilities District, Michael Aden with Colorado Home Realty, Ken-Caryl Dental Center, Pugh-Bellmar Financial, J&R DuctWorks, Atlas Coffees, The Hair Gypsy, Ulrich Construction, Blush Studios, Ken-Caryl Community Network, and Ken-Caryl Ranch Metropolitan District.

Adolfson & Peterson Site Logistics

Bond project construction staging has started! Adolfson & Peterson (A&P) will have two distinct staging areas. These staging areas will be located in the parking lots of the Community Center and the Ranch House. The staging areas will be fenced off and include mobile office trailers for A&P, trash dumpsters, storage of equipment and materials, and contractor parking. These areas will serve as the ‘on-site’ headquarters for the A&P team, along with subcontractors working on the projects. The Dakota Lodge is anticipated to only have a storage unit in the southwest corner of the current parking lot. These staging areas will remain in place for the duration of the projects. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please email bondprojects@kcranch.org.

Ken-Caryl Home Tour Saturday

The Ken-Caryl Home Tour will be Saturday, Sept. 26 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. and is open to Ken-Caryl residents and their guests. Brought to you by the Ken-Caryl Ranch Foundation and with the generous backing of our sponsors, we will once again support The Action Center, a local non-profit serving those in need in Jefferson County. Take a peek inside seven beautifully remodeled homes located in both the North Ranch and Ken-Caryl Valley. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children and are available for purchase at www.kencarylhometour.org. Tickets may be purchased online in advance or at the Community Center on the day of the event.

Ken-Caryl Ranch Hazard Tree Reduction Project

In spring 2015 the Colorado State Forest Service (CSFS) entered into a service agreement with the Ken-Caryl Ranch Master Association to oversee the implementation and completion of a hazard tree reduction project in Ken-Caryl Ranch Open Space (KCROS). In accordance with the KCROS forest stewardship plan, CSFS staff has identified approximately 420 trees in KCROS that pose a potential threat to the safety of trail users. Work sites were identified along Massey Draw, Shaffer, Lost Canyon and High Meadow Trails. Trees were deemed hazardous if they were dead or severely damaged and within a distance of 2.5 times the tree's height from any trail. CSFS has clearly marked all hazardous trees for removal with a vertical stripe of blue paint. At the August meeting, the KCRMA Board selected P&A Forestry as the contractor for the tree removal project. The operational period for the project is set from Oct. 1 to Nov. 1 dependent on weather and work site conditions. Because trails will not be closed while work is performed, a KCROS Ranger will be at the work site to control trail traffic and ensure public safety. Please contact the Ranger Staff with any questions at 303-979-1876, ext.170.

Parent Lecture Series: College Fit Workshop

How do you find the right college fit for your child and your finances? Join Mary Francavilla, a long-time Ken-Caryl resident, on Wednesday, Oct. 7 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the Ranch House as she provides a free workshop on this very subject. She’ll discuss topics such as college size, financial aid, scholarship search, and how to move forward with confidence. This workshop is open to junior and senior students and parents.

Family Fright Night and Haunted Trail: Free This Year!

Friday, Oct. 23
4-8 p.m. (Haunted Trail is 6-8 p.m.)
Dakota Lodge and Bradford Park

Come play spooky games, enter the costume contest, paint a pumpkin, and learn about some creepy creatures that are associated with Halloween. Then take the shuttle to Bradford Park to trick-or-treat at some animal homes throughout the red rocks. Find out the myths and truths about these animals. After the walk, gather at the Bradford amphitheater for hot chocolate and roasted marshmallows (fire conditions permitting). Please note the entire event is family friendly! The Haunted Trail is a not-so-scary, fun, educational experience. Save the date and keep an eye out for more information to come! Interested in promoting your business? We have sponsorship opportunities available. Please contact Melissa Daruna at melissad@kcranch.org for more details.
