Welcome to your very first edition of The Navigator, the official newsletter for first-year students at Tulane!
We encourage you to get in the habit of checking your Tulane email regularly, as you'll receive a new edition of this newsletter often, beginning this summer and continuing throughout your entire first year. The Navigator will connect you with the people and offices here to support your transition, keep you on track with upcoming checklist items, and offer tips for a successful first-year experience.
We’re so happy you chose Tulane and can’t wait to welcome you to campus!

We consider your orientation a year-long experience that begins before you ever set foot on campus. The New Student Modules will introduce you to the people and offices you'll grow to rely on, teach you about the campus and city you'll soon (or already) call home, and prepare you to be an engaged member of our community. Consider these your first homework assignments as a Tulane student!
There are four modules to complete over the summer, giving you plenty of time to move through the content at your own pace. Modules 1–3 are available now on your Canvas dashboard, and Module 4 will open on August 1.

| |
|
Check your Tulane email inbox, as you should have received an invitation from Canvas to join the modules. If you are unable to locate the invitation, simply log into Canvas with your Tulane email and password. The New Student Modules can be found on your Canvas dashboard.

To help you stay on track, be sure to use the New Student Checklist, located within the modules. This resource highlights important tasks and deadlines to guide your transition to Tulane. We recommend reviewing it at the start of each month and checking off items as you go so you’re always ready for what’s next.

Below are just a few of the checklist items to complete in May:
|
-
May 8: Complete the Housing Application on the Housing Portal.
- Complete the Pre-Registration Survey (learn more in the section below!).
- Complete the Application for Academic and Housing Accommodations.
- Review Technology Options
- Check with the Technology Connection campus store for back-to-school computer specials. Tech Connect also has a loaner and repair program for students.

To get registered for the Fall semester, you must participate in a summer advising session.
The first step is completing Module 2: Jump Start Your Academics. In the Advising section of this module, there is a Pre-Registration Survey and a checklist of other action items. Completing the Pre-Registration Survey gives you access to book your advising session (it’s at the end of the form and sent to your Tulane email upon completion).
The additional checklist items should be completed by the day of your advising session.

Housing & Move-In Information:
|
First-year residential students will be randomly assigned a Move-In day and time slot for either August 9, 10, or 11. Housing & Residence Life will email you your assigned 30-minute arrival time slot to your Tulane email inbox later this month. Please do not make travel arrangements until you have been assigned your Move-In time slot.
If you have an unavoidable conflict during your time slot, there will be a period when you may cancel your time slot and select a new one from available options in the Housing Portal. More details will be included in the time slot assignment email messages.
