Dear Faculty, Administrators and Staff,
This semester marks an important moment in Seton Hall’s journey. Over the past two years, the University has undertaken a comprehensive strategic planning process, guided by community input and affirmed earlier this year by the Board of Regents. The resulting plan reflects our shared vision for Seton Hall’s future – one rooted in academic excellence, global engagement and student success.
In keeping with the plan’s spirit of innovation and global engagement, I am also pleased to share news of Seton Hall’s most significant expansion of its global footprint in University history: our students now have access to 57 semester-abroad campuses in 24 countries. This extraordinary growth underscores our commitment to providing transformative international experiences that prepare students to thrive in a connected world.
For more information, please take a moment to check out the Semester Abroad Programs hub which details all the opportunities available. Additionally, there will be an Ask-Me-Anything session with the Director of Study Abroad and our consortium representative in the Cafeteria on Tuesday, September 23, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The session is open to all faculty, staff, administrators and students. Updates about the expansion will be shared at Academic Affairs meetings this month, and any questions and inquiries may be directed to studyabroad@shu.edu.
I want to extend my gratitude to Douglas Cantelmo, Director of Study Abroad and Global Engagement, and his team for their vision and dedication in leading this transformational work. Together, the Strategic Plan and our expanding global opportunities represent the bold, forward-looking spirit that continues to define Seton Hall.

Embed a Librarian in Your Canvas Course
The University Libraries are thrilled to now offer a new service: embedded librarians! An embedded librarian is a librarian that is placed within your Canvas course; when there, they can aid you and your students by serving as a point-of-contact for library, information, or research related questions. Want a librarian to build and grade assignments or learning modules for your students? An embedded librarian can do that, too. To request a librarian for your course, just fill out this form here. Questions? Contact Lead Instruction Librarian Maria Barca at maria.barca@shu.edu.

2025-26 Academies and Idea Hall Applications Due September 10
Apply by September 10 for seed funding to jumpstart new and innovative ideas.
-
The Academies support faculty in developing interdisciplinary curricula, pursuing interdisciplinary scholarship, or projects that align with university goals, such as enhancing diversity and inclusion, increasing grant submissions and expanding graduate programs.
-
The Idea Hall initiative offers funding for collaborative projects with non-academic divisions (e.g., Finance and Academic Affairs; or Student Services and Athletics). By cultivating cross-divisional partnerships, this initiative hopes to promote ideas to boost student retention, optimize use of facilities, and integrate service learning into the student experience.
