October Happenings at LVCA

  • Come Celebrate our Students! - November 2nd

Our annual Student Achievement Ceremony will take place on Wednesday, November 2 at 7pm. Students who have studied 100+ hours, obtained citizenship &/or completed our program, will all be recognized for their hard work and commitment to improving their lives. The celebration will take place at the Jefferson School African-American Heritage Center

Family and friends are welcome to attend. Light refreshments will be served after the ceremony. Vice-mayor and Albemarle High School Career and Technical Education teacher Wes Bellamy will be our guest speaker.

  • Wanted: A Few Good Committee Members

This coming year will be the 10th Anniversary of Wordplay! We hope that this year will be the best yet, but we need your help. Committee members will assist in recruiting teams, securing sponsorships and planning the most exciting event of the year! Contact Heather if you're interested in joining this vibrant and fun-loving team. 

We are also looking for individuals to join our Development Committee. These members will assist in fundraising efforts to ensure the financial success of LVCA. Contact Ellen if you're interested or would like more information.


  • Upcoming Tutor Trainings

We're only a few short days away from our October New Tutor Training. Please contact the office as soon as possible, if you're interested in joining us. This training will take place over the course of two evenings, Wednesday, October 19 and Thursday, October 20, 5:30-8:30pm. Attendance is required both evenings in order to fulfill training requirements

We will be offering our final Tutor Training of the year on Saturday, November 12, 9:30am-4:00pm.
