Team,
Today is International Women’s Day - a global celebration of the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. Worldwide, groups and individuals unify to celebrate and support women's advancement.
Here at Vail Resorts, we have a gender diversity journey to be proud of:
- We have nine women running resorts, including four of our five Colorado resorts
-
Women hold nearly 40% of leadership roles director level and above across our company, and make up about 50% of all managers and above in corporate roles
-
Kirsten is the first female CEO in our company’s history, and is the only female CEO among Travel & Leisure companies listed on the Fortune 1000 list
- Our Vail Resorts Board of Directors has achieved gender parity, with five female and five male board members
And our work continues. The Women and Allies ERG of Vail Resorts will influence change in policies, practices, and culture to cultivate an inclusive environment and build allyship and advocacy that will help lead to equitable practices for all employees and a better company overall.
In order to achieve real, sustainable change, the Women & Allies ERG is standing up a structure and team to support this important work. Co-Leads will help us with the support of Functional Ambassadors. Over 130 leaders applied to serve in eight open Co-Lead roles. Co-Leads were selected based on functional expertise, commitment to elevate the experience for women at Vail Resorts, and experience against the role criteria. We are thrilled to share our Co-Leads, and the three key functional work areas and engagement they will support:
Hiring, Development, and Promotion Processes:
Karen Holmes, Program Manager, Talent Development
Kate Roddick, Senior Manager, Whistler Blackcomb
Pay and Benefits:
Alex Zabierek, Director, Legal
Jack McCarthy, Senior Director, Finance
Culture and Community:
Gregory Kiskinen, Director Base Area Operations, Kirkwood
Kate Schifani, Director Mountain Operations, Vail Mountain
Engagement:
Brooke Kasman, Director Mountain Operations, Hunter Mountain
Myra Garcia, Manager, Human Resources
Out of 279 applications, we have also selected 21 ambassadors to support these Co-Leads in our functional work areas. We are seeking representation across all dimensions of diversity; including, but not limited to, grade levels, gender identities, seasonal/year-round employees, lines of business, and allies of women. We are announcing year-round Functional Ambassadors today, and will introduce you to our seasonal Functional Ambassadors that will make up the remaining 3 spots in each ambassador group during the 2023/24 winter season.
Congratulations to the following ambassadors from our year-round team:
