Dear SUNY New Paltz Community,
I write to thank you for your participation in the SUNY New Paltz Presidential Search process and for your recent engagement with the finalists during their on-campus visits.
The Presidential Search Committee has met to review and discuss the on-campus visits and the campus community survey results for each candidate. After its meeting on March 2, the search committee forwarded to the College Council the candidates the committee deemed acceptable for the presidency. The committee is required to forward at least three candidates.
The College Council met March 7 to discuss the Search Committee’s recommendations. The College Council’s task is to forward at least three names to the Chancellor for consideration.
Both the Search Committee and the College Council have completed their responsibilities in the search process, and the names of the candidates they deemed acceptable have been forwarded to the Chancellor.
NEXT STEPS
The Chancellor and members of her senior leadership team will interview the finalists and they will make a presentation to SUNY leadership. SUNY will complete additional reference work and background checks. The Chancellor will recommend a final candidate to a subcommittee of the SUNY Board of Trustees to interview. The SUNY Board of Trustees will then appoint the recommended candidate.
Once this process is completed, the Board of Trustees will appoint the new president at a board meeting and the announcement of the new president will be made jointly by the SUNY Chancellor and SUNY New Paltz.
THANK YOU
I thank you in advance for your patience as the remainder of the process plays out. I am grateful to the Presidential Search Committee members and my fellow College Council members for their contributions to this important process. Your comments, your questions and your abidance to an arduous process have proudly produced a diverse range of candidates that I am confident can lead this institution forward.
Sincerely,
Ronald Law '74
Presidential Search Chair, SUNY New Paltz
