Register for the Clerk's Legal Matters
Housing Law Forum

I am pleased to announce that the Clerk’s Office is hosting the first in a series of public forums called Legal Matters. The inaugural Legal Matters forum will be held the morning of Saturday, December 5th, 2015, at the Renaissance Community Senior Center and will focus on several aspects of housing law.
Are you at risk of foreclosure? Are you being evicted from the foreclosed property you are renting? Perhaps you offered someone temporary housing and now they won't leave. The four seminars planned for the Legal Matters forum focus on these issues and more.
• Foreclosure Tips for the Property Owner: What Next?
• Renting a Foreclosure: Where Do I Go Now?
• Actions for Possession: I Want You Out!
• How to Buy a Foreclosure: What Do I Need to Know?
The forum is free and open to the public, but space is limited, so be sure to register for the event before November 30th.

Self Help Center Celebrates
Its First Two Months

It’s hard to believe it’s been two months since the grand opening of the Lydia Gardner Self Help Center. In that short amount of time, the response has exceeded even our most optimistic projections.
To date, the center has served more than 3,500 customers, with more than 400 of those customers scheduling time to receive low-cost legal assistance from an attorney.
As remarkable as those numbers are, the testimonials from our customers illustrate what a valuable and worthwhile service we are providing.

"I really appreciate the Self Help Center opening up because I am a father of two and do not have a lot of money for an attorney. I do have some smarts though, and because of this place I will finally be able to see my daughters."

Clerks for a Cure Team Shines at This Year's
Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk
Halloween took on a pinkish hue this past Saturday as thousands of striders descended on Lake Eola for the annual American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk.
For the sixth year in a row, our Clerks for a Cure team was out in force. The team was celebrating another fantastic year, raising more than $5,000 for breast cancer awareness and research.
With the money raised from this year’s campaign, the Clerks for a Cure six-year total to the American Cancer Society is more than $65,000. As the Honorary Chair for the Making Strides Walk, I could not be more proud of our team and all those who made this year’s walk an overwhelming success. I can’t wait to do it again next year.

Save the Date - February 14, 2016
I am excited to announce that the Clerk's Office will be hosting a mass wedding ceremony this coming Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2016.
We would like to invite all interested couples to say their “I do’s” with us on this very special day.
If you are thinking about participating in the Valentine’s Day event, be sure to get your marriage license sooner rather than later. For Florida residents, there are a few requirements that may require a 3-day waiting period to be married. Don’t delay.
Visit www.myorangeclerk.com for information on obtaining a marriage license and look for more details on how to register for the ceremony in next month’s Center Court.
November Star Performer
Our November Star Performer, Damaris Nazario, is a Purchasing Specialist in our Financial Services Division. And while she might consider contracts, vendors and requests for proposals just part of the job, other team members are glad she is there to provide guidance.
“During a recent project, Damaris was serving both our vendors and the project team as her customers. She anticipated both the vendor’s questions and the project team’s needs throughout,” said a team member in her nomination letter. “She asked questions to help guide us down the path. Damaris comes to us with experience that is reflective in how she completed her work in this effort.”
