Upcoming virtual events from the UAB Center for Teaching and Learning
You are still able to continue working on your CTL Certificates by attending and participating in our online workshops. We hope to see you there!
Message from the CTL Director
As we approach the middle of the Spring semester, the CTL is providing an unprecedented number of March workshops to support UAB teachers. In addition to long-standing series, such as the Teaching Foundations workshops directed by Dr. Tino Unlap, or Interprofessional Teams in Healthcare by Allison Shorten, we are adding new topics in the Faculty Well-Being and UAB Libraries series. All are designed to bring you a wealth of teaching support and resources while learning from great presenters and interacting with some of UAB’s most successful teachers.
We can't wait to see you at the CTL! Scott L. Phillips, Ph.D.
Global Awareness Workshop Series
Strengthen your teaching practice in working with UAB international students specifically, as well as UAB’s diverse student population in general, all this month in the Global Awareness series at the CTL.
Melissa Hawkins, the CTL’s International Teaching and Learning Specialist, will present Addressing Student Concerns with Cross-cultural Sensitivity on Thursday, March 4, from 1-2:30 PM. On Wednesday, March 10, from 10 AM-noon, Dr. Michelle Allen from the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion will lead Safe Zone training. Finally, Melissa Hawkins will also facilitate Helping International Students Avoid Plagiarism on Tuesday, March 30 from 10-11:30 AM.

eLearning Workshop Series
For those interested in learning more about the educational technology available to UAB faculty, or for faculty earning points towards the Online Design and Teaching Certificate, the CTL is hosting more eLearning workshops this month to help you reach your goal.
In addition to these workshops, the eLearning team provides full support and training for Canvas and academic technologies in all aspects of course and program development. Faculty can request one-on-one or group/departmental training sessions where an instructional technologist will provide customized assistance. Trainings can take place at your campus location, the eLearning office, or virtually via a web conferencing tool. Click here to view more information on training and support available from eLearning.
