The students of Mr. VanSlambrook’s Introduction to Entrepreneurship class took a field trip Wednesday morning to Maingate, Inc, where they were generously hosted by Brebeuf dad Dave Moroknek.
The students had the opportunity to learn about all aspects of the business, and to see first-hand the final steps in the production of the t-shirts they had designed and sold.
The class sold over 500 t-shirts, raising over $2,500 for Houston hurricane relief.

Student Spotlight

HELEN MARTIN '18

Loves About Brebeuf
I love the Jesuit principles that Brebeuf is founded on. Men and women for others is more than just a tagline, it is incorporated into every class you take and activity you join. It is why we have classes like Social Justice and all clubs have to do a service project. I love that we are not just learning for the grades but for a purpose - to help others. I love the “jessies” so much that I hope to attend a Jesuit university next year, and I have Brebeuf to thank for that.
Class You Are Most Looking Forward to This Year
This is a hard choice. As a senior, I get some liberty as to what I get to take; so I love all my classes. But, I am specifically looking forward to AP Environmental Science with Ms. Miller. It has been a subject of interest to me for a while because it is a constantly evolving field that affects everyone on the planet. And, who wouldn’t be excited to spend time in the great outdoors with one of their favorite teachers?
Future Plans
I am applying to schools like Georgetown, Santa Clara, and UPenn and praying I get in. Most of my schools are what Dr. Fadely fondly refers to as “zero predictability schools.” So, check back with me on May 1 for the final outcome. I plan to study political science, languages, and public health. After college I plan do service work for two or three years.  Beyond that, I plan to have a garden, and live off the grid at some point (my mom has agreed to join me.)

Random Fact(s)
My family and I are addicted to Disney World.
I have never had cavity.
I ran a marathon the summer after sophomore year.
I’m the shortest 5' 11" person you will ever meet.
What are you most looking forward to during this school year?
I am excited to be a more involved member of the Brebeuf community. My goal is to attend at least one event of every Brebeuf sponsored extracurricular activity. From Dance team to Ultimate Frisbee to the Spring Musical - I want to see it all.
What is your current favorite show or series on tv, Netflix, etc.?
Madam Secretary.
What advice would you offer our newest Braves in the Class of 2021?
Always bring snacks. It sounds funny, but I swear the Brebeuf schedule can go by super fast or super slow. So, always have something to eat. I promise you, a five-minute passing period is not long enough to go down, buy food, and then make it all the way up to your English classroom. Trust me; I have tried it.

IUHPFL students attend 5- or 6-week programs every June and July in eight countries - Austria, Canada, Chile, China, France, Japan, Mexico, and Spain - learning Chinese, French, German, Japanese, and Spanish.

Mothers Association Interfaith Prayer Group Meeting

Tuesday, September 26
8:30 a.m.
We are excited to announce our first meeting of the year for the Interfaith Prayer Group at Brebeuf.
Our special guest will be Bobby Karle, who will talk briefly about his spiritual journey along with a passion of his...yoga!
Bobby will then lead us in a yoga session in the chapel! His class of students will join us, so, this could be a great opportunity for some parents to do yoga with their children.
If you do not have a yoga mat, don't worry. Just bring a beach towel or blanket... that will do. And if you forget that, no worries, we will have a few extras on hand.
All Interfaith Prayer Group meetings will be held the last Tuesday of the month from 8:30-9:30 a.m. We request that you arrive just a few minutes early so we can get started on time.
