IMEX 2024: Networking Opportunities that Shaped Francesca's MSTHEM Programs Journey
|
Francesca Pia Perugini, a GWSB MSTHEM student, had an incredible experience attending IMEX 2024. Check out the details of her journey and the unique opportunities she encountered below.
Attending IMEX 2024 in Las Vegas was a pivotal experience in my Master’s program in Tourism, Hospitality, and Event Management at The George Washington University. Representing both my MSTHEM Program and my country, Italy, I had the chance to immerse myself in one of the largest global events for the tourism and event management industry. What made this experience truly transformative were the vast networking opportunities. I was able to meet professionals from every corner of the industry—building relationships, exchanging ideas, and learning from experts who are driving the future of tourism. The connections I made were invaluable, from casual conversations on the expo floor to more structured meetings at focus groups and panels. These interactions provided real-world insights that complemented my academic studies, giving me a deeper understanding of how theory meets practice. As a social media recruiter for future students, this experience has also enhanced my ability to highlight the professional growth our Master’s program offers, particularly in terms of the global networking opportunities that events like IMEX provide.
One of the highlights was the Future Leaders Forum, which offered a dedicated space for aspiring leaders like me to collaborate and discuss the evolving landscape of tourism. It was an incredible opportunity to share ideas and build meaningful connections that I know will be important as I advance in my career. Special thanks go to my mentor, Yolanda Gonzalez, whose guidance helped me navigate the event with confidence. IMEX 2024 not only expanded my professional network but also solidified my commitment to leveraging these opportunities to grow within the tourism industry.
I can’t wait to apply the lessons learned and continue building on the connections I made. Looking forward to seeing how future students from our program will seize these incredible networking opportunities too!
