Each week the De La Salle COVID-19 Task Force will provide our community with a Weekly COVID-19 Evaluation on how we are doing as a school in certain areas.
As you know, Governor Newsom presented new “Stay-at-Home” orders for California on December 2nd, and our Contra Costa County Health Officers implemented a new Stay-at-Home order for the County that went into effect on Sunday, December 6th. Thankfully, De La Salle and Carondelet are able to stay open with in-person instruction. We have only four school days remaining until Christmas vacation until we break. Please keep up the good work!!!!!
This week, two students reported a positive case to us. The students who tested positive did not contract COVID-19 on campus. Currently, as a school community, we have a positivity rate of .19% - we would take action if that rate reaches more than 5.0%. While our school numbers are still very good, it will continue to take our entire community to remain vigilant to stay below the 5.0% threshold.
As a reminder from the message we sent out before the Thanksgiving break - For the safety and well-being of those that are coming on campus, we ask that families be upfront with information regarding positive COVID-19 cases within your family. This allows us to send a consistent message regarding possible isolation or quarantine. We understand it can be a lot of information to process all at once and we want to be here to help you through that process. We have been working closely with county and state officials to ensure cases are managed appropriately. Please contact Kent Mercer (mercerk@dlshs.org) or Doug Bauman (baumand@dlshs.org) with any questions or to report positive cases regarding COVID-19.
Again, it's important for each of us to remember that our ability to hold in-person instruction, camps, and cohorts, largely depends on the choices and actions made by the members of our community. Your choices to wear a mask when outside your house, to wash your hands frequently, and to not engage in close interactions with individuals outside of your family make us all safer.
