Third annual West Scranton Fall Festival a great community success
We had a wonderful time sharing in the fun at Clover Field and Allen Park for the THIRD ANNUAL West Scranton Fall Festival, sponsored by Posture Interactive. Activities across the day included food and entertainment, bounce houses, art activities, children’s activities, a fire pit, s'mores, live music and more!

A big thank you everyone who participated! We appreciate all of our staff, volunteers community partners and attendees for coming together to make the event a success! See you next year! Click here to view photos from the event.

Scranton Homebuyer Program closed for the year
The Scranton Homebuyer Program is officially closed for this year. Thank you to our amazing partners and Scranton Mayor Paige Cognetti for helping make this program possible!

As the City of Scranton prepares next year’s budget, now is the time to advocate for continued funding for this program. Please contact the City by dialing 311, calling 570-348-4101, or emailing scranton311@scrantonpa.gov to ask for support in funding this program.

Since 2020, NeighborWorks has administered the Scranton Homebuyer Assistance Fund, helping 117 residents purchase their first homes.

If you or someone you know is interested in applying to this program, please contact our office to be placed on the waitlist at 570-558-2490 or intake@nwnepa.org. All applicants must complete Homebuyer Education, which can be done now to ensure your application is processed quickly when funding is available. If you’ve already applied, please reach out to your counselor to confirm your spot on the waitlist.

Latest Neighborhood Leaders Forum a success
The latest event in our Neighborhood Leaders Forum series was a great success!

Taking place at Nay Aug Park and jointly planned with our friends at United Neighborhood Centers of Northeastern Pennsylvania, the Neighborhood Leaders Forum brings together resident leaders from throughout the City of Scranton, providing access to guest speakers from various governmental entities, nonprofit agencies, and other community partners.

This edition of the event featured presentations from Elise Stavish of The Clinics at Scranton Primary Health Care Center, discussing the effectiveness and use of Narcan as a lifesaving agent, as well as the expansion of the Clinic’s operations on Wyoming Avenue. Also presenting was Dan Frantz, Fire Prevention Officer for the Scranton Fire Department, who discussed the agency’s free smoke detector program, how the fire inspection process works for businesses, and much more.

Special thanks to the crew of Scranton Fire Department Engine 10 for giving attendees an up-close look at a firefighting apparatus and equipment, and answering various questions on the life and career of a firefighter.

Listen to the latest episode of the Be a Neighbor podcast!
Amy Cusick from Christmas Miracles From Heaven, joins hosts Parker Dorsey and Gerard Hetman in this episode of the Be a Neighbor podcast. We were excited to discuss the nonprofit's mission, their work in cleaning the Washburn Street Cemetary, their various other community service activities, inspiration for starting said work, plans for the future, and more! Listen to the full episode here, and stay tuned for more episodes in the future.
