Mary A. Maluccio, MD, MPH, FACS, is Professor of Surgery and Medical Director of the New Orleans Louisiana Neuroendocrine Tumor Specialists program, NOLANETS, a strategic partnership between Louisiana State University and Ochsner Medical Center-Kenner.
Dr. Maluccio brings a unique perspective to the NOLANETS program having built a multidisciplinary program in Indiana that cared for NET patients being evaluated for single or multi-visceral organ transplantation. Her primary goal for the NOLANETS program is to merge what has historically been the most aggressive managerial approach to NET patients with emerging therapies that will define evidence-based treatment guidelines to optimize outcomes for patients.
Dr. Maluccio runs a research lab that focuses on primary and secondary cancers of the liver. This includes basic science projects evaluating mechanism of inflammatory induced cancers, translational research projects investigating biomarkers of cancer in unique patient groups, and bloodwork markers of response to surgical and nonsurgical cancer treatment. Her specialties include surgical oncology, cancer surgery, pancreatic cancer/ pancreas surgery, stomach surgery, hepatobiliary surgery, pancreatic biliary surgery, liver surgery, abdominal surgery and the Whipple procedure, minimally invasive surgery, NanoKnife, and ablation.
