Greetings, Volunteers!

It may be getting cooler outside, but we're still making the most of the lasting daylight by getting outside and putting our raised bed gardens to rest. We hope each and everyone of you finds time to enjoy all that this beautiful season has to offer.

We are always looking for new volunteer opportunities to feature. If you know of any organizations that are currently looking for volunteers, please don't hesitate to reach out!

As always, to sign up for an event this month and receive a month of free Garbage to Garden service, RSVP by email, and we will help answer any questions you may have. Remember, events are first-come, first-serve.

Artisan's Asylum Gown Initiative

The Artisan's Asylum Gown Initiative, or Gowntown, is producing Tyvek isolation gowns and shipping them to protect medical workers all over the US. We're just over halfway to our goal of 30,000 gowns by the end of September. We run Monday-Friday, in three shifts, 10-1, 2-5, and 6-9. Shifts are subject to change based on availability. Tasks are primarily a variety of folding that can be done from a standing or seated position, with the opportunity to run some power tools if desired.
Gowntown has recently been featured on/in WGBH, Fox25 Boston, and Dig Boston.

Rescuing Leftover Cuisine

Volunteer Food Rescuers help transport food from food donor partners to local homeless shelters, soup kitchens, and other human service agencies in our communities. Each rescue averages 40 pounds of food, provides 32 meals and takes 45 minutes of time! Food rescues may be completed by public transport, by personal vehicle, on foot and even by bicycle. Whether it’s once-a-month, once-a-week, or once-a day volunteers are needed to provide a reliable food rescue service by fostering community connections to reduce food waste and food insecurity! Community Cooks

Community Cooks mobilizes individuals, businesses, civic, educational and faith-based groups to prepare home-cooked food for vulnerable populations seeking assistance from human service agencies in the Greater Boston area. We proudly partner with these agencies that, due to lack of funds and/or facilities, struggle to provide food for those they serve.

This is a great opportunity for you if you enjoy feeding your neighbors and are looking for a regular volunteer schedule. Community Cooks is looking for regularly scheduled, monthly volunteers to help with their program.

Mass Audubon

At Mass Audubon, they believe that every person can make a positive impact on protecting the nature of Massachusetts. One enjoyable way to have an impact on the environment is by volunteering at one of their wildlife sanctuaries or at their headquarters in Lincoln.

Volunteer with Food Link!

Food Link is looking for volunteers to help on a regular basis with the collection and distribution of donated food. Volunteers generally work in groups to collect food from grocery stores and bakeries, sort the food and then deliver it to social services agencies in the area.
