Support the Arts at Board Benefit, Wheeling's Premier Social Event
Join Oglebay Institute's Board of Trustees for Board Benefit - Wheeling's premier social event to support the arts - held 6:30-9:30pm Friday, August 24 on the lawn of the Mansion Museum in Oglebay.
This lavish party features gourmet food, desserts, refreshments and a beer garden. The event supports programs that enrich and benefit the community including public classes, camp scholarships, in-school & after-school arts and nature instruction, exhibitions, theater productions, concerts, programs for underserved audiences and much more.
Tickets are $70 per person in advance ($80 at the door) and can be purchased online, from any board member or by calling 304-242-4200.

Oglebay Institute’s Parcel Players present Sir Not-So-Brave
The Parcel Players, Oglebay Institute's summer youth theater group, will present original comedy Sir Not-So-Brave August 1-4 at Towngate Theatre. Curtain is 7pm for each show.
Written and directed by former Parcel Player Zachary Michael, Sir Not-So-Brave is a hilarious play within a play where cast members question the logic of the script as a squire goes on a quest to become a dragon-slaying night and new king.
Cast members include more than a dozen talented area high school thespians. The play is co-directed by Makayla Carney.

A Farm Becomes A Park, Exhibit Celebrates Oglebay Park’s 90th Anniversary
In celebration of Oglebay Park’s 90th anniversary, the Mansion Museum presents A Farm Becomes A Park, an exhibit of photos and postcards that follows Oglebay's transformation from a private farm to a public park.
See how Oglebay Park developed into a popular destination for residents and visitors alike from the Oglebay family's purchase of Waddington Farm in 1901, to the construction of Wilson Lodge in 1957.
A Farm Becomes A Park is on display through November 9. The Mansion Museum is open 10am-5pm daily. Admission is $7. Call 304-242-7272 for more information.

Schrader Center Hosts Free Campfire Bluegrass Jam August 9
Join Bill Gorby & the Musical Mercenaries for a campfire bluegrass jam 7-9pm Thursday, August 9 at the Schrader Center.
Everyone is welcome to bring an acoustic instrument (spoons count) and join in the jam! Don’t play an instrument? Come for the entertainment! Bill Gorby & the Musical Mercenaries play an eclectic array of Appalachia-rooted music, delivered in 3- part harmony that will have your toes tapping. The campfire will be glowing, and the Oglebay hills will resonate the sounds of our Appalachian heritage.

Let Us Entertain You! - Towngate Hosts Season Preview Party August 31
See what Towngate’s 50th season of community theater holds for you during a special sneak preview Friday, August 31. Festivities begin at 6:30pm.
Let Us Entertain You! features musical entertainment and snippets from each of the season's four plays: The Diary of Anne Frank, Miracle on 34th Street, The Shaughraun and Our Town. Savory and sweet hors d’oeuvres from Ye Old Alpha will be served along with wine, beer and other refreshments.
