A weekly COVID-19 update
from Mrs. Pape and Mrs. Monty in the Health Office.
  • This week Fenwick was notified of one positive case of COVID-19, last in the building on Friday, September 3. At this time, one person was quarantined due to close contact with the positive case.
  • As always please monitor your student for any signs and symptoms of COVID-19.
  • If you, your student or members of your immediate household are being tested for COVID, you must stay home until the results are received.
Vaccination and Mask Requirements
Fenwick High School will follow the latest state mandate from Gov. J.B. Pritzker. As such, masks are required by all students, faculty, staff, and visitors of Fenwick for all indoor activities regardless of vaccination status.

Please refer to "Item 3. All Business and Individuals" from the Oak Park Dept. of Public Health.
As of today, Fenwick will not require that all students,
faculty and staff be fully vaccinated.

Quarantine Requirements
Information for students not feeling well

At this time all students who are feeling ill must stay home until they receive a negative COVID test OR an alternative diagnosis from a physician AND be 24 hours symptom-free before returning to school.

COVID Information

  • COVID-positive students must isolate for 10 days from the onset of symptoms or test date if asymptomatic.
  • Vaccinated students do not need to quarantine for close contact as long as they remain symptom-free.  It is recommended they get a COVID test 3-5 days after exposure.  They may remain in school and activities but must remain masked at all times, including during extracurricular sports and activities for 14 days from last exposure.
  • Unvaccinated students who are a close contact to a positive case must quarantine for 10 days and receive a negative test result on days 11-14.  This testing will be done in the Health Office at Fenwick each morning.
Definition of close contact
  • Less than 3 feet for more than 15 minutes (cumulative over 24 hours) in a classroom setting.
  • Less than 6 feet for more than 15 minutes (cumulative over 24 hours) during lunch while masks are removed.
Vaccinated or Unvaccinated students in an outdoor setting do not need to quarantine if they are a close contact of a COVID positive case.  Please continue to monitor your student for symptoms.  Testing is recommended 3-5 days after exposure to a COVID-positive person.

TESTING

There is no testing out of quarantine at this time.

Home tests are NOT an acceptable form of testing at this time.  The test must be performed by a certified lab, physician's office, immediate care, or other health professional.

If your student becomes symptomatic any time during the 14 days after exposure please have them tested.

For further information, please refer to the COVID-19 FAQs on our website, which will be updated regularly as new information arises.
Fenwick continues to encourage vaccinations
for all eligible individuals.
The Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine has received formal FDA approval.
As of today, a total of 838 Fenwick students, faculty and staff (64%) have notified the nurses that they have been vaccinated.
Remember, the surest way to avoid quarantine requirements in case of close contact is to be vaccinated.
Parents, if your daughter or son has received the COVID-19 vaccine, please upload the student's CDC card or an immunization record from their doctor as soon as possible to the Magnus system or email it to healthoffice@fenwickfriars.com.
Students who ride public transportation to Fenwick:

Per a CDC-issued order, face masks are to be worn by all people
while on public transportation!

Please talk to your student(s) and advise them to adhere to this order to ensure their safety and the safety of others while using public transportation.
We are all in this together!
Please be an active participant and help us keep our Friars in school.

Stay safe, Fenwick Community:
We must wear masks (indoors and on buses), and we encourage vaccination!
