Help Us Kick Off Our 2018 Campaign and Day of Caring

On Friday, September 7, approximately 1,500 volunteers will work on projects throughout our community as part of United Way of the Capital Region’s 26th Annual Day of Caring which is sponsored by PNC Bank.

If you are one of these volunteers, join us for a delicious breakfast provided by Wegmans from 7:30 – 8:30 a.m. at the Scottish Rite Cathedral in Harrisburg. Play fun games and learn more about United Way. During the program, we’ll announce United Way’s 2018 fundraising goal and give out some fantastic door prizes.

United Way will also collect items for our Tools For Schools project. Through the Tools For Schools project we’re collecting school supplies for children participating in our Ready for School, Ready to Succeed pilot project.

Can’t make it to the Day of Caring kickoff? You can drop off your items at any of the locations listed on the Tools For Schools flyer. Donations will be collected August 13 through September 7.

For a list of items and drop off locations, view the Tools For Schools flyer.

Real Impact Through Pilot Projects: Meet Levi

Levi is 3 ½ years old and lives in Newport with his parents and grandparents. He’s an only child and doesn’t have many opportunities to socialize with other children. Last fall, he began attending school readiness workshops, created to help prepare kids to enter kindergarten. The workshops are part of Ready for School, Ready to Succeed, a community initiative in partnership with United Way of the Capital Region, local schools and the Capital Area Intermediate Unit.

Learn more about Levi by watching the School Readiness - Meet Levi video.

You can also view the printable Meet Levi flyer.
