What are you thankful for?
Hello Volunteers!

This is the time of the year to count our blessings and give gratitude. Over at Garbage to Garden, we're thankful for our community, our volunteers, and all of our wonderful participants. This month's opportunities focus on strengthening the bonds within our communities.

As always, to sign up for a volunteer shift this month and receive a month of free Garbage to Garden service, RSVP by email, and we will help answer any questions you may have. Remember, events are first come, first serve.

Bulb Blitz and Fall Farm Volunteering
South Street Farm 
November 7th, 3:00pm - 4:30pm


Help plant garlic and bulbs at South Street Farm! It's the time of year for sowing cover crops, planting bulbs for spring, and putting the farm to bed for the winter months. 

Bulbs are provided by the City of Somerville Parks and Open Space as part of the 8th Annual Bulb Blitz! It will be getting dark around 4:30, so bring your warm layers and they will provide shovels and gardening gloves.

Volunteer with Food Link!

Food Link is looking for volunteers to help on a regular basis with the collection and distribution of donated food. Volunteers generally work in groups to collect food from grocery stores and bakeries, sort the food and then deliver it to social services agencies in the area.

Volunteer with us @ the Farmers' Market!
Union Square Farmers Market
Union Square Plaza, Somerville 
Saturday, November 10th & 17th
Volunteer shifts 9am-11am, 11am-1pm

We are looking for volunteers to help us set up, breakdown, sort compost & recycling and spread the word about curbside composting.

Volunteers will be responsible for meeting a GtG staff member at the market and help set up equipment for tabling or composting and recycling, monitoring compost/recycling stations, and speaking with other community members about our service.
