University-wide Democracy Initiative to advance research, education and policy efforts to sustain and enhance democracy

Notre Dame has launched an ambitious new Democracy Initiative, an interdisciplinary research, education and policy effort focused on advancing solutions to sustain and strengthen global democracy.

It was 125 years ago that the first known long-range wireless transmission in the United States was made on our campus. Notre Dame Professor Jerome Green and his assistants used the Basilica of the Sacred Heart’s tower to transmit a long-distance signal to what is now Saint Marys College.

Free shred event

The University Archives and Shred-it are offering a free, secure and confidential document shredding event for the Notre Dame community from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, at the Shred-it truck parked in the Mason Support Center parking lot (located off St. Joseph Drive behind Notre Dame Federal Credit Union). It is open to faculty, staff, postdocs, undergraduates, graduate students and retirees.
