Welcome     Grow     Serve    Celebrate

                                                  August 27, 2025
Sunday, August 24 architect Mr. Joseph Orr was with us to share beginning plans and answer questions about construction of a porte cochere outside our worship center. Construction of the porte cochere is not projected to begin until the summer of 2026, but initial logistics, planning, and design will begin in the next few months.
We also began some crucial maintenance on our church windows, replacing areas of rotten wood and seeking to locate where water is entering. We all know that the work of maintaining a building never ends, but thanks to your giving we are able to ensure we continue to offer a safe, welcoming, beautiful space by taking care of the little and big things that come along. Haven't given yet to support all that we do at Parkway Hills? What are you waiting for? Help us continue to be a place for everyone!
As of Monday this week, 33 beds have been delivered in August!
The dream of Beds for Kids Ministry is that every child has his or her own bed. This year the ministry has expanded to include other churches in the Madison area to help with funding, building, and delivering the beds, fully outfitted with new mattresses, pillows, and linens.
In September the Communion Offering will support the Beds for Kids ministry. As so many beds have been assembled and delivered in August (a joy, indeed!), our funds are running low.
If you would like to help with the Beds for Kids Ministry in any way, contact Cindy Karlson or Bill Flynn.
The Congregational Care Team came out of one of our Mission and Ministry Days Apart as a way for us to care one for another. We meet monthly (skipping the months of January and July) and spend time praying for members within our church family and sending some notes of love.  Anyone is welcome to attend, and you don't have to attend every month. Come when you can.

We are seeking the time that best meets the needs of our varied community which is a challenge.  We recently had a request to try following worship. Our September meeting will remain the same (Tuesday, September 2 at 6:00 pm in Room 108 off the Garden Room) but we will move our October meeting to Sunday, October 5 immediately following worship. The care team usually meets for about 20 to 30 minutes.  Hope to see you there!

Our Wednesday night book club resumes October 1 at 6:20 pm with David P. Gushee's The Moral Teachings of Jesus. I went to a workshop using this book and led by Gushee at the Festival of Homiletics this past May and was impressed by his faith and sincere desire to find a way for our faith to meet the division of our time through the person and work and words of Jesus. I hope you order a book, start reading, and join us when you are able.

We are doing it a little differently this time. We will have four meetings instead of one. Discussion of Part One will take place Wednesday, October 1, Part Two Wednesday, October 22, Part Three Wednesday, October 29, and we will finish it out Wednesday, November 5 with Parts Four and Five of the book.
