| Duo Mobile: Multifactor Authentication (MFA)
|
📱 AU requires use of MFA for all AU systems for students and any designated proxies. Duo Mobile is American University's chosen multifactor authentication app to help secure account holders from unauthorized access to their accounts and account data. Click the button below to learn how to get Duo on your phone--you'll need it set up prior to arriving to campus for move-in and orientation.

💉 DC law requires that all students under the age of 26 to provide proof of the immunizations listed on the AU Mandatory Immunization Form.
To submit proof of immunization...
|
-
Log onto your Student Health Portal
- Under the "My Forms" section, select "Immunization History" and complete the form with the dates of your vaccinations from your immunization record
- After submitting the form, select the link to upload a scanned version of your immunization history signed by your medical provider
|
Records will be reviewed, and students will receive a secure message in their portal within approximately five business days.
Students who do not complete this requirement will be able to attend classes, but registration for future semesters will be denied until the requirement is met.

📍 New Student Orientation is fast approaching, and we're here to help you prepare! More information will be coming to your AU emails this week, but we want to share a preview of what's to come:
Dates and Times
After move-in weekend, orientation will take place Tuesday, August 20 - Friday, August 23. During this time, all students will participate in required sessions from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., with an array of optional (but encouraged) programming each evening.
There is no formal sign-up process for orientation. All students will receive orientation information specific to themselves in their AU emails.
Preparation
There's a couple ways to best prepare for orientation:
|
- Keep working through your Flight Ready! Canvas course to familiarize yourself with the services and resources available to you here.
- Continue working your way through the New Student Checklist and checking your AU email on a weekly basis (if not more frequently) for more updates coming soon!

| REQUIRED: Summer Reading for College Writing Course
|
📖 As part of your first-year College Writing class, we have chosen a "community text" that you will refer to for discussion and writing in your College Writing course. This year's community text is Dr. Ashley Shew’s Against Technoableism: Rethinking Who Needs Improvement. Dr. Shew will be at American University this fall during the 27th Annual Writer as Witness Colloquium, where she will address the AU community and meet with students and faculty to discuss the book, as well as the craft, artistry, and research that went into its creation.
To learn more about the colloquium and where to purchase a copy of the book, click the button below.

💰 Your first tuition bill is due Thursday, August 1 and can be viewed in your student account on EagleService. Learn how to access your bill (including an itemized list of all tuition, mandatory fees, and financial aid) by clicking the button below.
Proxies and FERPA
Don't forget that you can also add proxies to your student account. Adding a proxy provides family members access to view/pay your bill and access to your educational record, but the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) gives you the ability to control who has access to what parts of your student record. Learn more about FERPA here.
