Courts 1 & 2 at the Community Center are in a state of disrepair and are closed because they are not safe to use. Replacement of these two courts was included in the original plans for the bond projects. However, a high-pressure water line and sewer line that run directly under the courts needed to be addressed prior to construction. While this was being done, money was needed to complete other Community Center improvements so these courts were removed from the project. The District Board plans on replacing courts 1 & 2 with new post-tension courts when funding becomes available in the future. The Board has discussed a short-term repair and temporary conversion of these courts to pickleball courts in order to test this type of programming in the community. A number of residents attended the Oct. 25 District Board meeting and expressed opposition to replacing the tennis courts with pickleball courts. They also expressed concern about a lack of tennis courts for league play. No decision has been made. The District Board will consider this matter further while planning for 2017.
