Dear Alumni and Friends:
The theme of this winter edition of The Four Columns is athletics. We are celebrating some amazing alumni who have pursued and achieved professional excellence in the industry. Plus, we introduce the architect of Hood's new women's ice hockey team: Coach Josh Funk.
Speaking of athletics, did you know: It is the intent of the Hood College Athletic Hall of Fame to celebrate the past, present and future of Hood College athletics and those who have made significant contributions to the Blazers' athletic tradition. If you have a former classmate or teammate that deserves this honor, we encourage you to nominate them!

New Coach for a New Hood Era
|
Frankly, it's hard to tell who is more excited about women's ice hockey at Hood: the coach, the athletes, or the Hood and Frederick communities. Coach Funk's philosophy is to "control the controllables," and that mantra has come in handy during this exciting and adventurous first season. (MORE)

A Donation Request from the Archives |

|
The Hood College library has displayed our creche (nativity) collection in midwinter since 1992. This year we expanded the display to include other religious and cultural events that occur in December/January by borrowing several menorahs and purchasing a Kwanzaa kinara.
Much of our wonderful creche collection was donated by Beulah Sommer Munshower '44, and the nativities represent cultures from around the world. We are very interested in obtaining menorahs, kinaras, and other cultural items for these winter events, if you are willing to donate them. Purchasing artifacts is just not the same as receiving gifts of treasured or well-used items by our Hood alumni!
Please contact Mary Atwell, at atwell@hood.edu if you have questions or are interested in donating an item to the archive.
