A Message from Dean Sherry Glied

• Congratulations to the NYU Wagner team of Olivia Chan (MPA-HPAM 2026), Smrithi Mahadevan (MPA-HPAM 2026), and Reika Oshima (MPA-HPAM 2026) that took home third place and a $3,000 prize at the UCI Health - Cornell Sloan Case Competition over spring break!
• Earlier this week, we launched WagTalks: Presidential Policy, a series of video explainers featuring Wagner experts discussing policy areas under the new federal administration. The first video features Natasha Iskander, James Weldon Johnson Professor of Urban Planning and Public Service and director of the NYU Migration Network, discussing Trump’s approach to immigration. Stay tuned for more!
• On Thursday, March 20, New York City mayoral candidates Michael Blake and Senator Jessica Ramos participated in a candidate forum at NYU Wagner, hosted by Wagner’s Black Student Association (BSA), Wagner City Government, the Urban Planning Student Association, and Jones Strategy & Consulting Group, with support from the Dean’s Office and the Office of Student and Alumni Engagement.
• On Wednesday, March 12, we officially cut the ribbon on our new home at 105 E 17th Street!

• Join Jason Coupet, the Jacob K. Javits Professor, for a lecture entitled “Public Science is for the People,” discussing the importance of public funding for science and the role of public research institutions on Wednesday, April 9.
• The next Coffee with the Dean of the semester will be held on Wednesday, April 9, from 3:30-4:30pm. All students are welcome to spend time with the Dean to share concerns and ask questions.
• The Institute for Public Knowledge is hosting a book talk with Alice Driver, author of Life and Death of the American Worker: The Immigrants Taking on America’s Largest Meatpacking Company on Wednesday, April 9. 
• The 28th Annual Kovner-Behrman Health Forum on Thursday, April 10, will feature a panel of experts discussing the current moment in healthcare and the impact of the federal administration.
• Join the NYU African Graduate Students Association at the Fourth Annual Africa Conference on Saturday, April 12. This year’s theme is "Africa’s Global influence: Charting the Path for Sustainable Development."
• Join us, in partnership with Vital City and the Institute for Public Knowledge, for a conversation between journalist Matthew Yglesias and University of Chicago behavioral economist Jens Ludwig exploring Ludwig's new book, Unforgiving Places: The Unexpected Origins of American Gun Violence on Tuesday, April 15.
  
• The next NYU Migration Network Public Conversation on Thursday, April 24, will feature Yale University Senior Lecturer Alex Gil and NYU Arts & Sciences Associate Professor Cristina Beltrán discussing Visualizing Data on Migration, Deportation, and Border Enforcement. 
• Join the NYU John Brademas Center for a conversation with Kenneth Roth, former executive director of Human Rights Watch and author of Righting Wrongs: Three Decades on the Front Lines Battling Abusive Governments, on Thursday, April 24. 
• Presented by the NYU Global Urban Initiative, the inaugural Global Urban Summit on Friday, April 25, will explore the theme of “Urban Underground,” with an afternoon of panels and workshops discussing the challenges and opportunities of urban environments all over the world.
