Please join us in congratulating Andrew Simon, Ph.D., Psy.D., on his appointment as Executive Director of the Buccino Leadership Institute. Professor Simon served as Interim Director beginning in  July 2025, demonstrating the vision, dedication and leadership that made him the natural choice for this permanent role. A Professor of Psychology at the College of Arts and Sciences with more than 25 years of experience in organizational psychology and executive education, Professor Simon has been instrumental in expanding the Institute's impact and reputation both on campus and nationally. We are excited to see the Buccino Leadership Institute continue to thrive under his permanent leadership.

Seton Hall's Stand Against Hazing module provides practical information about recognizing possible signs of hazing and responding when a student shares a concern.

Faith and Healthcare in Mexico

Maryellen Roberts, D.N.P.,  leads Faith and Healthcare in Mexico, a spring semester embedded program exploring social service, healthcare, and faith through immersing our students in the cultural experiences in Puebla and Mexico City. Students interact with hospitals, local organizations, communities, and host families while learning the Catholic traditions that shapes the culture of Mexico. Through lectures, guided tours, and reflection sessions, the program connects academic learning with real-world experiences and fulfills the Core 3 requirement. When traveling with our program, students will have the opportunities to explore famous historical sites including Cholula, Teotihuacán, and the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe., the program offers meaningful hands-on experience for students interested in healthcare, public health, and related fields, helping to build skills and strengthen resumes for future professional opportunities.

Zotero – Bibliographic Manager

Zotero is a user-friendly collection, organization, and sharing instrument for preserving personal research source information. Zotero is a downloadable tool that specifically allows researchers to store reference data in one place, automatically format bibliographies by preferred format (i.e. APA, Chicago, MLA, etc.), and is accessible from any location both on, or off campus. Humanity AI - Communities Leading on AI: Open Call for Proposals

Deadline is October 21, 2026

Humanity AI, an initiative spearheaded by 10 leading philanthropies, is investing $10 million in innovative U.S.-based work that supports communities’ collective power to shape how AI is built, governed, and used. This call is focused on community-led efforts in three issue areas central to Humanity AI’s work. By community-led, they mean those most affected by the technological changes are defining the goals, shaping the approach, and driving the work. Issue areas include: Education, Labor and Economy, and Humanities, Arts, and Culture.  If you are interested in applying email grantsoffice@shu.edu.

Take On a Maker Project or Challenge This week, faculty and staff can design a personalized backpack nametag using Tinkercad and prepare it for 3D printing in the Innovation Hub Maker Studio. There is also still time to participate in the September Bloom and Build Maker Challenge and create a 3D-printed floral display by September 30. Give Your Canvas Courses a Nickname 
Make courses and sections easier to identify on your Canvas Dashboard by assigning them nicknames. Nicknames are visible only to you and do not change the official course name. Learn how to create a course nickname.

Explore Generative AI in Adobe Photoshop 
A new TLTC on-demand training demonstrates how to use Photoshop’s generative AI tools to remove objects, extend backgrounds and enhance images. Watch the training and explore additional on-demand sessions.

Microsoft Publisher Support Ends October 1 
Microsoft Publisher reaches end of life October 1 and will no longer be available through Microsoft 365. Convert Publisher files you may need to PDF for viewing and sharing or move editable content to Word or PowerPoint before the retirement date. Learn more about upcoming Microsoft 365 changes.

Looking Ahead: Upcoming Events

Student Attendance Confirmation in Compass
To remain compliant with federal regulations, all faculty members are required to record attendance for students enrolled in their courses. Faculty received an email with instructions on how to complete attendance verification in Compass. Please complete this process promptly, as student financial aid cannot be released until attendance has been confirmed.

Save the Date: Employee Field Day
Thursday, October 15 from 12 – 2 p.m.
Please save the date for the 1st annual Employee Field Day! This event is open to all faculty, administrators, and staff. Join your fellow colleagues for an afternoon of connection, friendly competition and community spirit!

The rain date is Friday, October 16. Look out for more details and the registration link in the coming week.

Sabbatical Workflow Update - Faculty Step
The sabbatical leave workflow has been opened and is available in Faculty Success. The faculty step is due by October 1. Questions regarding the sabbatical application process may be directed to Kaerielle Larsen in the Office of the Provost.
