Hearing Palestine: A Queer Jewish Woman on the Politics of Solidarity: A talk with activist and author Sarah Schulman
Wednesday, April 15, 4:30 pm, 51 Winthrop Street
When Sarah Schulman was asked to speak at an LGBT conference at Tel Aviv University, she discovered the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions movement (BDS) and had to ask difficult questions of herself and her commitment to solidarity work. As she became more deeply entrenched in the BDS movement, Schulman began to interrogate how her marginalized identities--queer, Jewish, woman--were being used to justify violence against others. Join us for a conversation about what it means to work in solidarity and navigate the complexities of dehumanizing systems. Sponsored by the LGBT Center.

Commencement Weekend 2015
The Baccalaureate Service 2015
Saturday, May 16, 3-4 pm, Gantcher Family Sports and Convocation Center
The Baccalaureate Service for the senior class at Tufts began in 1865. Baccalaureate is an ancient custom wherein those being admitted to the degree of bachelor are honored with laurels of oration to inspire them as they cross this threshold into their lives beyond. This service is the last time for the senior class to be alone together as a class. One senior is selected to offer the Wendell Phillips Address, and the president offers his parting remarks to the class. The context is a multifaith celebration honoring the heritage of spirituality and values at Tufts through a diversity of religions, philosophies, and cultures in the forms of music, readings, and blessings. All are welcome. For more information, click here. Listed below are the spiritual gatherings that will be held during Commencement Weekend.
