AERA Undergraduate Student Education Research Training Workshop- Deadline: November 15! The April 13-15 workshop will take place in Chicago. Led by junior and senior scholars, the workshop will give undergrad fellows an overview of how education research is designed across fields, how quantitative and qualitative research methods are used in studies, and how research is applied to education policy and practice. The award includes AERA Annual Meeting registration and two nights of lodging. The fellows are responsible for transportation costs to and from Chicago. Most meals are part of the Workshop activities.

Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Program- Deadline: November 18! A competitive employment opportunity that allows young professionals to live and work in cities, towns, and villages throughout Japan. Being a JET is an opportunity to work and to represent the United States as a cultural ambassador to Japan. Most participants serve as Assistant Language Teachers (ALTs) and work in public and private schools throughout Japan; some work as Coordinators for International Relations (CIRs) as interpreters/translators.

Dr. Juan Andrade Jr. Scholarship for young Hispanic Leaders- Deadline: November 30. Recipients will receive a non-renewable scholarship of $1,000 and complimentary registration to attend the 2023 USHLI National Conference. Applicants must demonstrate a verifiable need for financial support. At least one parent must be of Hispanic ancestry. Non-U.S. citizens are eligible to apply (DACA or Undocumented). Applicants must be full-time undergraduate students for the Fall 2023 – Spring 2024 academic year.

Joseph A. O’Hare, S.J., Postgraduate Media Fellowship- Priority Deadline: November 30. The O'Hare Fellowship supports the next generation of content producers for the Catholic media and other forms of professional journalism. The fellowship offers recent graduates the opportunity to develop their media skills and professional relationships while living and working in the capital of global communications, New York City. O’Hare fellows spend one full year working at the offices of America Media, where they will generate content for America’s multiple platforms: print, web, digital, social media and events. Root-Tilden-Kern Public Interest Scholarships at NYU Law School- Priority Deadline: December 1. Awarded to students who intend to pursue careers in public service immediately after graduation or the completion of one or more judicial clerkships. The program covers full tuition at NYU, without regard to financial need, for three years of law school for outstanding students who promise to pursue public service. Each year 20 scholars are selected based on three criteria: commitment to public service, academic excellence, and potential for leadership. In addition to full tuition, scholars participate in a program that nurtures future public service leaders by providing unique educational, mentoring, and networking opportunities.

Brenda A. Brown Passport Scholarship- Deadline: December 3. United States citizens who are applying for their first-ever United States passport are invited to apply for a scholarship through Expanding Boundaries International. The Scholarship will address the costs of the passport. Applicants must be ready to apply for a passport between January and March 2023.

Blakemore Freeman Fellowships- Deadline: December 30. Blakemore Freeman Fellowships are awarded for one academic year of full-time, intensive language study of Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Khmer or Burmese at the advanced level in approved language programs in East or Southeast Asia. Applicants must be American citizens or permanent residents of the United States. Superior candidates pursuing careers in fields such as academia, STEM (science, technology, engineering, math), environmental studies, international business, accounting, law, medicine, journalism, architecture, teaching, social or NGO work, and government service are encouraged to apply. A senior in college who will receive an undergraduate degree before the start date of the language program may apply.

Summer Undergraduate Research or Internship Experience in Acoustics- Deadline: January 2. The Acoustical Society of America (ASA) will be running a 12-week PAID summer undergraduate research program for students interested in the area of Acoustics. This intensive summer program in acoustics is designed for under-represented undergraduate students from across the country. This program will emphasize training, mentoring, research, and preparing students for graduate studies & careers in acoustics. Past placements include interning at Bose, researching videos that alter the pleasantness of sounds, researching acoustic alternations and emphasized pitches of Hawaiian humpback whales, and more. No previous research experience required. Open to all majors.

Future of Food: Opportunities and Careers for Undergraduate Students Fellowship Program- Deadline: January 27. Provides undergraduate students with summer experiential learning opportunities to increase their understanding of the future of food systems as it relates to enhancing the safety, quality, and security of our food supply through knowledge sharing, capacity building, and leadership development. F2OCUS fellows will receive a stipend of $5,000, in addition to room & board and additional financial support for necessary travel.

NY Times Fellowship- Deadline: December 2. The program is designed for journalists with some experience who are early in their careers, including recent college graduates. Fellows work full-time, are paid, and receive benefits. They are Guild-represented employees. They typically accept about 30 fellows per year, although the number may vary.

NIH Oxford-Cambridge (OxCam) Scholars Program and MD/PhD Partnership Training Program- Deadline: December 1. The National Institutes of Health Oxford-CambridgeScholars Program is an accelerated, individualized doctoral training program for outstanding science students committed to biomedical research careers. The program is based on the British system, in which students perform doctoral research without required formal courses other than those students choose to take in relation to their own interests. Students selected for admission to the program have already developed a passion for science through engagement in summer, job related, or undergraduate research programs.

Science Ambassador Scholarship- Deadline: December 13. A full-tuition scholarship for a woman seeking an undergraduate degree in science, engineering, or math, funded by Cards Against Humanity. To apply, film a three–minute educational video of yourself explaining a STEM topic you're passionate about. You do not need to be a U.S. citizen to apply.
