News Updates from Memorial Medical Center

January 17, 2025

Welcome, 2025!

Happy New Year! The entire Memorial Medical Center team is pleased to welcome 2025 and we are looking forward to what the new year brings for our hospital. We remain steadfast in our commitment to caring for the Las Cruces and Doña Ana County communities and are excited to celebrate our 75th anniversary this year.

Towards the end of 2024, we said goodbye to our Chief Operating Officer Mary Armijo as she moved to Albuquerque to be closer to family and start a new chapter in her career. We are thankful for her service to our hospital since 2019 and her leadership in developing and enhancing the availability and delivery of high-quality healthcare services offered to our community.

We are also pleased to welcome Gregory Eberhart, MD, (pictured below, at left) to Memorial as our new Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Eberhart brings a wealth of experience and expertise to our team as a proven physician executive with a distinguished career in healthcare leadership. Dr. Eberhart is a board-certified cardiologist with a strong track record of improving quality and patient experience goals at his previous hospitals. We look forward to having him join our team officially at the end of January.
Additionally, we recently welcomed the very experienced Oliver W. Hayes, DO, FACEP, (pictured below, at right) as our interim Designated Institutional Officer for the Southern New Mexico Family Medicine Residency Program. Dr. Hayes is a nationally known authority on clinical education of medical students and medical residents, and is currently a professor and the Associate Dean of Graduate Medical Education at Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine.

We'll See You Soon In Santa Fe!

Members of our leadership team are very much looking forward to attending this year's Las Cruces Days in Santa Fe, hosted by the Greater Las Cruces Chamber of Commerce from Feb. 1-3.
We are once again proud to be a platinum sponsor of this important event, where we will gather together to advocate on behalf of our beloved Mesilla Valley Region for a wide variety of issues important to us, including healthcare.

Being The Best We Can Be For Our Community

We want to be the best we can be for our patients and community, so we’re thrilled to spotlight Aurora Rosales as our new Patient Experience Liaison. Aurora is bilingual and committed to listening to patient and family feedback here at MMC.

“Patient-centered care is incredibly important, and I look forward to helping our organization with the continuous improvement of patient satisfaction,” Aurora said. In addition to encouraging and tracking patient feedback, she also works with our Patient Family Advisory Council to engage community members as we improve experiences at our hospital.

Aurora previously worked as a Patient Care Technician at Memorial for two years, followed by serving in a management role at Hospice El Paso. During that time, she obtained an MBA in Healthcare Management from the University of Texas at Tyler to pair with her Bachelor’s in Business Administration from NMSU.

Aurora can be reached at 575.556.6269 or by email at Aurora.Rosales@lpnt.net. Please feel free to contact her about issues important to you.

Now Offering PSMA-PET Imaging for Prostate Cancer

In December, we became the only facility offering full-time PET/CT services to our region, and in conjunction with this service we are now offering cutting-edge PSMA-PET imaging for men with prostate cancer. This innovative technology is available for identifying and locating prostate cancer in men whose cancer may have spread to other parts of the body and may need initial therapy, or whose cancer may have come back based on elevated serum prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels.

MMC is the only facility in Southern New Mexico offering this technology to patients. With more than 3.1 million men living with prostate cancer in the U.S, it ranks as the second leading cause of cancer death among men. Delayed diagnosis can result in fewer treatment options and increased mortality risk highlighting the importance that advanced imaging like PSMA-PET can have on treatment.

Memorial is dedicated to staying at the forefront of medical technology to provide the best possible healthcare to Las Cruces and beyond.
