Celebrate Truckee River Month |
One Truckee River invites you to celebrate our local gem, the Truckee River. This month, let's raise public awareness and engagement around our important waterway - by attending community celebrations, educational events, and volunteer days!
Enjoy a day along the Truckee River when you bring your kids to festive events, like World Bee Day, Smart About Water Day, and the Reno River Festival.
Choose from dozens of opportunities to learn something new by signing up for workshops on on how to irrigate your garden, identify wildlife, and understand where your water comes from.
Get your hands dirty when you help improve our watershed by volunteering to plant native species, clean up our parks, and maintain our trails.
Or, simply take an afternoon to enjoy the Truckee River's beauty. Hike, bike, picnic, paddle, fish, or swim - and appreciate the uniqueness of clean, mountain-fresh water running through our urban desert hometown. The more we enjoy the river, the more we'll care for it. The Truckee provides 85% of the drinking water to the Truckee Meadows region, and ongoing protection for our shared resource is more important than ever.

The Truckee River Flood Management Authority |
In honor of Earth Day, The Truckee River Flood Management Authority (TRFMA) released a 5-minute film, Restore & Protect, showcasing its long-term efforts to reduce flood risk while restoring the Truckee River ecosystem. It highlights how TRFMA and its community partners, like The Nature Conservancy in Nevada, One Truckee River, and many local, state, and federal agencies, have worked together to restore nearly 8 miles of the river and conserve over 450 acres of vital natural habitat.
Danielle Henderson, TRFMA Natural Resource Manager and One Truckee River Board Vice President, narrates the videos - sharing lessons learned from past restoration projects and a behind-the-scenes look at how thoughtful planning and collaboration have created lasting environmental impacts.
