Namaste friends,
I trust this newsletter finds you all healthy and in good spirits, despite these turbulent times.
As usual, life continues to amaze and challenge us. We find ourselves changed after the events of these past months. For Deva and me, it has been a time of reduced travel and moments of deep connection with each other, especially on a musical level.
For many years now we have enjoyed inviting great musicians to join us on tour, helping us to raise the quality of our musical expression. The reason for this is that we have always wanted to give you the very best possible experience whenever you came to see us. Over the years we have introduced you to such great artists as beloved Manose, Joby Baker, Spencer Cozens, Rishi, Miles Bould, Maneesh de Moor, Rainer Scheurenbrand, and Ravi Freeman.
This is in addition to our occasional guests who have graced the stages with us, such as Rickie Byars, John Densmore (legendary drummer of The Doors), Greg Douglass (Steve Miller Band), Krishna Das, Snatam Kaur, Jai Uttal, Sati Kazanova, Sudha, Denis Kucherov, Nastya Saraswati, C.C. White, Wah!, Jahnavi Harrison and Michael Beckwith etc.... All these musical, creative giants have brought extra magic to our mantras and to our gatherings.
But lately, because of the COVID 19 and the enforced lockdown, Deva and I have been given the great opportunity to rediscover the magic and power that happens when the two of us simply sing and play together. To be quite honest, we'd forgotten! Surrounded by so many great musicians, we'd focused on a bigger sound and less on intimacy.
It is a great lesson then, that in every situation there is always the opportunity for us to find ways to be creative and positive. Stranded in a Costa Rican jungle, Deva and I have been singing our hearts out. Not only to each other and the birds and animals that live here, but to the many thousands of you who joined us for our daily online OM/Gayatri meditations.
I can't tell you just how much we have enjoyed these gatherings with you. It felt, even though we are apart physically, that spiritually, we are connected. We felt the pulse of community in the silence of our meditations all across the world.
Sadly, we have been forced to postpone all our concerts and ecstatic chant events through the summer and now we are hoping for better news regarding our autumn touring schedule. Hopefully, we will be reconnected eye to eye and well as heart to heart very soon. If not, we will continue our live online OM/Gayatri mantra gatherings.
Meanwhile, we send you all our love and every good wish and blessing on your own personal journey. Remember, we are always just a mantra away from each other. Our Global Gayatri Sangha is founded on compassion, forgiveness and gratitude, so let these basic values support and inspire you in the days to come.
Until we meet again, stay strong, shine your light on the world - and keep singing!
With love from Deva and myself,
Miten
