UMSL COE Faculty Member Honored as 2023 Women Trailblazer Award Recipient


Dr. April Regester is an associate professor of inclusive education at UMSL and serves as the department chair for the Department of Educator Preparation and Leadership. Throughout her career at UMSL, Dr. Regester helped establish UMSL Succeed, an inclusive residential, postsecondary education program for individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities.

Martin Woytus, UMSL COE graduate advisor, receives UMSL Hero Award


A senior graduate academic advisor in the College of Education, Marty Woytus knows the difference a graduate degree from UMSL can make. Before coming to UMSL, Woytus had a 30-year career as a K-12 educator – 24 of those as a school administrator.

The UMSL Black Faculty and Staff Association Celebrates 40 Years


The BFSA executive committee recently hosted a gala to commemorate its 40th anniversary. A highlight of the evening was the announcement of the E. Paulette Isaac-Savage Black Excellence in Service and Leadership award that will be given each year to a BFSA member. Dr. E. Paulette Isaac-Savage, UMSL COE Professor of Adult Education, was delighted and surprised to be the first to receive the recognition.

Sport management partnership with CITY SC offers opportunity, expands access to soccer in region

UMSL sport management students travel to Super Bowl LVII

Dr. Karen Boleska, director of the sport management program, 13 students and one graduate of the program traveled to Arizona to volunteer at Super Bowl LVII. The students were among the thousands of volunteers who contributed to the production of the event.

Education graduate Tiffany Patton seeks to revitalize instructional coaching in Riverview Gardens School District


In February, the Riverview Gardens School District appointed Tiffany Patton, an UMSL College of Education graduate, as its director of professional development. In the new role, Patton oversees professional development for all staff to ensure the district’s practices comply with Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education guidelines.
