Dr. Cheryl Knight (left), associate professor of social work, and department chair, and Jana Haskins (right), director, Beck Center for Veterans, jointly made a presentation at the Global Awareness Society International (GASI) conference in Santiago, Chile. Their presentation, “Overview of Findings for the Veterans’ Suicide Prevention Project (VSPP),” focused on valuable VSPP findings related to depression and anxiety symptoms among military veterans.

Dr. Nilesh Kumar, instructor in management, recently presented his research at the Research and Development Management Conference, held at the University of Manchester. His presentation examined how digital trust influences collaborative innovation in the “Industry 5.0” era, which refers to a new and emerging phase of industrialization. One of the field's premier international conferences, it brings together leading scholars and industry professionals.

Wimpy and Carpenter Host Rural Symposium |
Dr. Cameron Wimpy (right), associate professor of political science, and department chair, and Dr. Amanda Carpenter (left), associate professor of public health, program director, and assistant dean for research, recently hosted the Rural Social Science Symposium at A-State. Rural experts from across the country attended the conference, sponsored by the Institute for Rural Initiatives that Wimpy directs. Conference proceedings will be published in a special issue of Social Science Quarterly.

| Salo is Selected for Global Leaders Program |
Dr. Edward Salo, professor of history, and department chair, has been selected for cohort nine of the Emerging Global Leaders Experience, a leadership development program administered by Globally. The intensive experience is designed for emerging and mid-career civilian and veteran professionals working in national security, foreign policy and public service fields. Selection for the program recognizes Salo's growing contributions to national security scholarship, public service, and interdisciplinary leadership.

Aryal Edits Creative Writing Studies Series |
The inaugural book in the Creative Writing Studies Series, for which Dr. Khem Aryal, associate professor of English, serves as series editor, has been published. The book, “Creative Writing Curiosity: Ten Essays on the Curious and the Writerly,” also includes Aryal’s essay, "Writing to Curiosity: Extending Emig's Legacy to Creative Writing," in which he explores how composition theorist Janet Emig's concept of writing to learn can inform creative writing pedagogy and practices.
