VR, Financial Aid, and More Resources for RIT/NTID Parents |
|
|
As we step into the new year, we want to share valuable information and updates for parents of RIT/NTID students, including reminders about Vocational Rehabilitation (VR), financial aid, and some new resources to support our community.

| Vocational Rehabilitation for NTID-Supported Students |
Denise Hampton, NTID’s assistant director of VR services, is available to answer any questions about VR support. You can reach her at DCHSFA@rit.edu or by phone at 585-475-2582 (voice) or 585-286-4525 (videophone). Below are some of Denise’s key tips for working with VR:
|
- Stay in regular contact with your VR counselor.
- Students should submit required documents to their VR counselor at the end of each semester to ensure timely support for the next term. These may include grades, unofficial transcripts, class schedules, booklists, bills, and financial aid award letters.
Tip: Reach out to your VR counselor to confirm exactly what’s needed!
- Consult with VR before making major decisions, such as withdrawing from courses, changing majors, or moving off-campus.
- If your financial aid award letter shows “Estimated Voc Rehab,” provide a written confirmation from VR to the financial aid office to verify the amount VR will cover.

Managed by Donna Tuffner, the NTID Clothing Closet supports students by providing access to professional attire and other essentials for interviews, film shoots, and more. If you’d like to contribute, donations are always welcome and can be dropped off on campus. This is a wonderful opportunity for parents to support our students’ success during career fairs, interviews, and beyond.
