Dear AU Parents and Families,
We’ve reached an unprecedented moment in AU’s history — Change
Can’t Wait: The Campaign for American University has surpassed $490
million. With less than $10 million to go, we are 98 percent of the way
to our $500 million goal and to completing the most ambitious
fundraising effort in AU’s history.
So many members of our community have joined this effort, including
over 23,400 alumni, 8,800 faculty and staff, including emeriti faculty,
and 1,900 current and former students.
We are almost there but can only cross the $500 million finish line
together. Inspired by AU students who set out to help their peers
understand the campaign’s real-time impact and motivate
participation, an anonymous alumnus has committed a $1 million
challenge gift to expand this Finish Line Initiative and call on the
entire AU community to help reach the campaign goal by June 30.
This $1 million challenge matches gifts from alumni, students, parents
and families, faculty and staff, and volunteers. Eagle families are
invited to support the Parent and Family Fund and have your gift
matched, dollar-for-dollar. In just the last month, over 1,000 members
of the AU community have joined this effort.
Everyone is invited to join in carrying us over the finish line with a gift
that will have double the impact. The Finish Line Initiative
demonstrates our strength in numbers—together, gifts of every amount
will bring us to our $500 million goal.
