What a Happy Birthday indeed! I was so surprised to return to work and find a gift basket full of my favorite things and containing notes of love and encouragement (not to mention the best lamp ever!!) Reading through all the notes brought me so much joy, and I cannot stress enough how much they all mean. Ministry is an interesting profession full of joy and challenge, but I give thanks everyday for this beautiful community at Parkway Hills that has committed to walking through all the ups and downs of a life of faith together. Thank you for being you and for loving me and my family so well.

Founded in 1980, the Mississippi Coalition Against Domestic Violence (MCADV) has stood for 45 years as a strong advocate and leader in the fight to end domestic violence across our state. As Mississippi’s premier agency on domestic violence, MCADV is dedicated to advocacy, education, and raising public awareness while ensuring the availability of essential resources and technical assistance. We proudly serve victims and survivors from every racial, social, ethnic, religious, and economic background—regardless of age, gender, or lifestyle. MCADV supports domestic violence shelters statewide by providing ongoing training and technical assistance to strengthen their capacity to serve survivors. Through our work, we strive to empower individuals and families to pursue safety, healing, and justice. Learn more at mcadv.org.
Joy Jones, Executive Director of MCADV, will be with us in worship Sunday, October 19 to share a little about the work of MCADV and what your gifts are providing.

Worship on the Lawn/Trick or Treat Trail/Chili Cookoff October 26
If you've been here at PHUMC for a year or longer, you're familiar with the excitement on the day of our Worship on the Lawn, the fun of the Trick or Treat Trail, and the extreme competitiveness of our Chili Cook-off.
That morning will begin with Sunday morning small groups at 9:30 and Worship on the Lawn at 10:45. Bring a chair. We will not livestream this service.
At 5:00 pm, children will delight in the activities on the Trail led by Youth and Bridgers while enjoying a little (ok, maybe a lot of) candy. All in costumes! We are accepting candy donations for this event. There will be marked bins in the foyers for the bags of candy.
Then everyone gets to partake of our Chili Cook-off, a very competitive event that results in a charity benefiting the winnings of the top-voted recipe and chef. Past winners have included Joe Williams, 2021, for Webster Animal Shelter; David White, 2022, for Mississippi Children's Homes; Drew and Taylor Pruett, 2023, for PHUMC Beds for Kids Ministry; and Branden Henry, 2024, for Madison Young Life.
We need chili cookers! Click here to sign up to bring a crockpot of chili. That's all there is to it (except for your skill as a chef). So far, there have been no chili leftovers!
Come, wear your costumes, eat some chili, and vote for your favorite.

Baby on the Way!
You may or may not know that PHUMC members, Zack and Amanda Hamilton, are responsible for keeping our building clean and our spaces looking nice and inviting. You also may or may not know that they are about to be grandparents, again! Their son, Shelby Wilson, who also aids with the custodial responsibilities at PHUMC, will soon be welcoming his first child. We know it takes a village to prepare for all the things needed to care for a newborn. If you would like to share some love and aid in welcoming this new baby into the world, click this link to find their Amazon wish list and let's shower this new baby with all the necessary things. (It's a boy!)

| Current Children's Ministry Sunday School Curriculum: Big Faith. Big Faith takes children through Bible stories using hands-on activities, child-friendly themes, and includes
at-home connections. Children 4th grade and under meet in the Garden room at 9:30 am each Sunday before dividing into age-appropriate rooms for a deeper dive into the lesson.
Be sure to pick up your faith-home connection sheet in the foyer of the Worship Center, by the kid's activity bags. This enables the kids to share what they're learning in Sunday School with the whole family.
We always need volunteers to aid with our kids ministry. For more information about any of our kids ministry events contact Jennifer.
*All volunteers must submit a background check before volunteering with children and youth.
