Dear Students and Families,
This afternoon, we heard word from the Marion County Public Health Department that high schools now have the flexibility to have students attend school full-time, in person, masked, and seated at least three feet apart in their classrooms. Our Medical Task Force supports our return to full in-person instruction given the very low rates of COVID demonstrated among our Brebeuf Jesuit community, as well as the larger community.
We are pleased to be able to welcome students back to full-time in-person instruction at Brebeuf Jesuit, phased in according to the following schedule:
- Seniors: beginning Monday, March 8
- Juniors: beginning Thursday, March 11
- Sophomores: beginning Wednesday, March 17
We feel that returning to full-time, in-person instruction before spring break will put us on the best footing to make any necessary adjustments and to finish the school year strong in April and May. In the coming days, we will also release post-spring break return-from-travel rules.
Please note that students will NOT have the option to remain hybrid, so we will plan to stop designating "Maroon" and "Gold" days beginning March 17, which is a Day 1. However, students will still have the fully online "Silver cohort" option. To move from the Marooon or Gold cohort into the Silver cohort and attend classes online only, a parent should please email reopening@brebeuf.org by this Friday, March 5 with your request. If you are already in the Silver cohort, we will assume you will remain there unless you let us know differently.
We wanted to send this basic information and timeline today to give one week advance notice for the first day of full return for seniors. In the coming days, you can expect to receive more details about the further adjustments we will be making to the building and the schedule in order to achieve a safe full reopening. I really appreciate all of the work that our faculty and staff will do and have been doing to make this happen, as well as the cooperation of our entire community. Stay tuned for more details.
AMDG,
Greg VanSlambrook, Principal
