Quentin Tarantino’s film uses a bestselling soundtrack to weave together multiple storylines involving esoteric hitmen, a Band-Aided gangster, a former actress who wants a dancing trophy, a calm fixer, a boxer on the lam and twitchy armed robbers who don’t want anyone to move or else. “Booksmart” (2019)

Amy and Molly thought keeping their noses to the grindstone gave them a leg up on their high school peers. Flick on the Field: Screening of “Rudy” on the Video Board

Experience the film “Rudy” in the iconic setting where it was filmed. The University’s clear bag policy and other game day policies will be in place for this event. East Concourse restrooms and concessions will be open.
Wristbands for students are available at Best of Duncan on Thursday, Aug. 29, or on Friday beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Library Quad. Bring a blanket and an empty water bottle! Before the movie, students can punt, pass and kick on the field, listen to the student DJ or take selfies for the big screen. Sitting on the field is reserved for student plus their spouses and children. Faculty, staff and the South Bend community are invited to sit in the stands in sections 8-12 and gain entry through Gate B.

Family Friendship Program

International students are invited to participate in the Family Friendship Program for the 2019-20 academic year. This is not a homestay program but rather a program that fosters friendships and cultural understanding between ND students from around the world and local community members. The Center for Social Concerns’ Community Impact Grants Application

The Center for Social Concerns awards Community Impact Grants for community-engaged research, teaching and learning that enact the values of Catholic social tradition. The grants are open to faculty, undergraduate or graduate students, and community partners. Grant proposals are reviewed once in the fall and once in the spring. The fall deadline for grant proposals is Monday, Sept. 16.

Introduction to Text Mining

This hands-on workshop affords participants the ability to learn the benefits of using computers to analyze textual corpora such as a collection of books or journal articles. Based on the resulting analysis, it is possible to more quickly learn what a corpus is about when compared to reading in a more traditional manner. No prerequisites.

How to Write In a Book    

This workshop demonstrates techniques for writing in books for the purposes of “active reading.” Akin to diagramming sentences, the techniques described in this workshop will enable you to quickly and easily identify names, dates, definitions, numbers, citations, examples, bulleted lists, numbered lists, quotes, etc.

Eddy Street on Campus to be Closed on First Day of Classes

A small stretch of North Eddy Street, between East Angela Boulevard and Holy Cross Drive, near the Walsh Family Hall of Architecture, will be closed from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27. A large crane will install a statue south of the new architecture building. Vehicular traffic will not be allowed north onto Eddy Street from Angela Boulevard, (see map provided), but pedestrians may still use the west sidewalk.

Each summer, the University of Notre Dame evaluates the programs, policies and procedures used to prevent and respond to sexual assault and misconduct.
